Defense motion to dismiss charges in court clerk John Beideman denied; Cont 6 dismissed by the People

A hearing was scheduled this morning to hear a 995 motion. The defense filed the motion asking the Court to dismiss 7 of the 8 charges filed against court clerk Robert Beideman. He is accused of molesting his former stepdaughter.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads told me thst she made the motion to dismiss Count 6 in her response filed to the defense 995 motion. I have already provided details on the defense's  995 motion in previous posts linked below.

Judge Cockrum heard arguments from the attorneys before his final ruling.

"The trouble I am having is that the charges" (in the complaint) "are not chronological as the way the facts" were presented at the preliminary hearing.

Visiting Judge Graham Cribbs who heard the preliminary had made the exact point.

Jury trial for April 23 confirmed. Time estimate 4 weeks.

Jane Doe's mother and current stepfather were in court today.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads. Beideman is represented by Mr. Russ Clanton.
