Stephen "Sungnome" Madrone does not have an active state contractor's license but he does have a Humboldt County Business license.
He now has a website Madrone for Supervisor.
www.votemadrone.com
Does not say what district but it confirms the unofficial news he is planning to run for Fifth District Supervisor.
He took down this business website, which is very convenient, since it was what he listed on that website about his new business and his claims on that website that promoted me to check his license and paperwork status. Madrone's business is still listed as a member in the Mckinleyville Chamber of Commerce directory.

I have contacted Humboldt County Treasurer -Tax Collector John Barthomelew and Humboldt County Auditor Joseph Mellett about requirements for a County Business license and Madrone's County license.
Mr. Barthomelew responded: "The reason Mr. Madrone still has an active county business license (even though his state license is inactive) is because all required county department approvals were authorized, and have been maintained, since 2007 for him to receive and subsequently renew his business license with the county each year. Obviously these silly requirements don't apply to Liberals.
ReplyDeleteHe's a hippie trying to hide his past. Find out his income tax info and you'll know if he's a parasite or a real worker.
ReplyDeleteTwo things: I saw a couple elections for the 5th District (where I lived) and they were interesting. One candidate was a young woman who's degree was in Art History but she was committed to RECYCLING (yes when she spoke it always sounded like caps) and she had ALL the facts and figures and projections but she hadn't been to the inland communities and was overwhelmed by the distances people travel to dispose of their trash (this was when there was a collection site midway between WC and Hoopa. She also wasn't prepared for the sort of trash in the collection boxes and made a note (a real note, my husband saw her write it down) to find out what other recycling could be promoted there.
ReplyDeleteI was skeptical because I hadn't heard anything really practical from her and her assumption that if people were informed about the benefits of recycling that of course they start doing it.
No, she was not from Humboldt or any place with rural communities.
No one outside of Arcata (and my husband) took her seriously and elected a man who did a good job.
She was very well qualified (I suppose..) for the job she got a degree for (specialized) but completely unqualified for the job of Supervisor.
Mr. Madrone is so excellently qualified for the various jobs he's held and those he is now doing but I think he's unqualified for the nuts and bolts work of being a supervisor. Being a Good Supervisor.
His life has been devoted to one general area, and a worthwhile cause. His values are established, his point of view known. I cannot see him as a consensus builder (read his resume, he's used to leading) and the Board needs intellectual leadership that presumes it's right.
Yes, 'his' issues matter but there are more important human issues and county budget issues and whoever wins the election needs to be more of a "Jack of All Trades" rather than a "One Trick Pony".
Also, his website still lists the CA Contractor's license. And only my opinion...a contractor's license means diddly.
If you have a unlicensed, inactive contractor doing work for you and gets hurt on your project, care to take a guess who's going to be paying said unlicensed contractors medical bills?
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side you don't like there work and refuse to pay and they sue you, in court the Judge will ask them " do you have a contractors license ?" They'll say "no" and the judge will say " case dismissed. "
If he's still accepting work with an inactive contractors license then he's knowing violating State laws and regulations and, therefore lacks the honestly and integrity the people are looking for in an elected official.
