With two alleged victims, facing multiple life sentences, alleged molestor Robert Johnson should be grateful for the plea deal of 18 years to life without waiving custody credits

Yesterday, at Readiness Conference, alleged molestor Robert Johnson resolved his case with a plea, just a couple of days before his jury trial was scheduled to start and avoided a worse sentence.

Judge Steven Steward took the plea and advised Johnson of sexually violent predator statutes and requirements.

Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced on 9/19. Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for the case. Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Johnson's attorney.

I was in the courtroom yesterday and watched Ms. Schaffer and Ms. Sullivan have private discussions about the plea and Ms. Sullivan speak with Johnson.

Johnson ended up getting a resolution of 18 years to life. With allegations from two separate victims, and facing multiple life sentences; Johnson should consider himself lucky he got Ms. Sullivan court appointed to represent him.

Johnson cannot post bail. Information amended to add Count 9 PC 288.5 (a) continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 as a felony. Johnson has to register as a sex offender and waived his right to appeal. Johnson did not waive custody credits. More details in court minutes.
