Rory Kalin hired as Inyo County Public Defender

I just received a tip that the Inyo County  Board of Supervisors approved a contract with former Humboldt County Public Defender Rory Kalin.

I contacted Rory Kalin.  He said Inyo County hired his law firm for legal services. Kalin said he is not an employee of Inyo County. The March 19, 2024 agenda lists an agreement between Inyo County and Kalin for public defender services in an amount "not to  exceed $650,000 for the period of April 15, 2024 through June 30, 2027."

Kalin sued ousted Judge Gregory Kreis, Humboldt Public Defender Luke Brownfield and former Public Defender Marek Reavis.I previously reported his lawyers are planning to file an appeal in the Humboldt lawsuit.
