On 4/9, Brandon Shorey was sentenced to 5 years in prison for domestic violence, sexual battery and using a deadly or dangerous weapon in the commission of a felony. Shorey has to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
By resolving his case before trial, Shorey got less time in prison and conviction for a lesser charge instead of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation.
Details of the plea and what charges were dismissed were covered in the last post which you will have to check since the court minutes for sentencing are brief. Different attorneys for the People and from the Public Defender's office appeared on the case for the sentencing hearing.
4/22: Shorey was transferred from the Humboldt County jail to state prison.
