Important deadlines in April about certification of March election, final report out this afternoon

Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder and Registrar of Voters Juan Cervantes is very accessible and so is the staff at our local elections office. In response to some questions by readers, I asked Mr. Cervantes to clarify certification of the March 5,  2024 election results.  Final election reports are available on the election website. I included the final cumulative report results which are no surprise since we already know and have known for weeks who won.

"The Secretary of State is scheduled to certify the Statement of Vote on April 12th. I certified our results on Tuesday, April 2nd, as required by law for the Presidential contests. Additionally, I took the initiative to certify the rest of the Election on the same day, ahead of the April 4th deadline. We'll be uploading final results this afternoon. All the necessary documents have been forwarded to the Secretary of State’s office for the official certification of the Statement of Vote on April 12th.The next local step is to present the certified election results to the Board of Supervisors, which is scheduled for April 9th."
