Unless you have authorization from CalPoly Humboldt police, you cannot be on campus

CalPoly Humboldt issued a press release about a hard closure of the campus. Anyone on campus without permission or authorization from CalPoly Humboldt police is subject to citation or arrest. This development is already getting regional and national coverage.

Twitter X has several posts in response.

This one was on Reddit.

CalPoly Humboldt administration should pay attention to Twitter X and national coverage because both on the left and right, their handling of this situation has received a negative response.

3:15 p.m. No information on Twitter X or Reddit for several minutes. "CalPoly Humbolt" blackout and threats of arrest so no one can see administration or law enforcement actions. I thought we lived in the United States of America.

Jersey Noah on Twitter X posted around 2 p.m.  and again around 3 p.m. about police action being imminent and no timeline of when there would be arrests.

This was long before the 3:40 LOCO update and LOCO posts a video which was given to them ? they just reposted. It is unclear who filmed it.

The local "media" on scene is useless. No reports on what is happening now except photos from hours ago. They can't see if law enforcement is on the move? Doubt Lost Coast Outpost' s minority owned Blue Lake Rancheria wants independent or any coverage if reports of them renting hotel rooms to law enforcement is accurate. Nor would LOCO want to piss off their good ole boy advertisers. What is the point of being "on scene" if you don't provide any original or live content?

Shame on CalPoly Humboldt administration to do this without independent observaton to watch from a safe distance. The administration has wasted taxpayer dollars twice with massive law enforcement response, escalated the situation by reacting and calling police from the beginning and have left students and families in limbo about graduation. Bureaucrats with massive salaries who can't house all their students and don't know how to deescalate with communication and use up law enforcement resources and personnel that the rest of the County and state needs to respond to real crimes like rape, murder, domestic violence.

There are several other tweets questioning "Cal Poly Humboldt", not as colorful as this one. Many people did not know the name change until the recent coverage of the protests.

CalPoly admin, you are looking stupid. The part about students still wanting to negotiate what is being heard while you cut off all access to information and waste law enforcement resources.
Your side, we don't know. And it is your fault.
As for the claim by escalate network, had you allowed access and been available easily for comment, then media who actually wants to do comprehensive, balanced coverage and verify information directly could report. There is no point in heading up to cover something when you can't be on scene and are denied access and have state police who don't know who is local, who is press and administration is MIA. The local "media" on the scene is pathetic. Instead of second hand reporting hours and minutes later from certain local "media" who run your ads or padtial information via one professor or nothing at all, current information is from people on social media and live. One 2019 HSU graduate on Instagram is going to  "burn their degree" in  solidarity. There are others saying the same.

CalPoly Humboldt admininstration and greedy politicians created this mess. On the first day, instead of reacting and sending massive law enforcement. They should have said to the protestors, we will listen, provide what answers we can, have ongoing discussions but you need to vacate the building and allow campus business to resume. They should have listened years ago and planned for housing and to student concerns. Instead they got their grubby hands on state money and thought calling themselves "CalPoly Humboldt" meant something. Overpaid, inept administration not giving a damn how students and others live and struggle. Typical selfish Humboldt one percenters and politicians.

Communicating and deescalating would have been the adult thing to do. By being bullies and sending out reactionary press releases, the only people defending administration are the angry MAGA keyboard warriors, privileged wealthy locals who mooch off the Cal Poly Humboldt dollars directly or indirectly. The same few anon names and multiple personalities commenting on certain local sites.

Do only Judeo Christian and white MAGA lives matter? Local MAGAts and other whiners aren't pissed about tax payer and law enforcement resources wasted all this week because " Cal Poly Humboldt" aka HSU administration doesn't know how to descalate and communicate? Foreign aid to one country is okay because it suits the MAGA agenda? Where is Jared Huffman? Where is Mike McGuire? Where is Tom Jackson? Leadership failure from CalPoly Humboldt administration and state officials. The same "patriots" and others of today would probably want to arrest the Boston Tea Party protestors. Maybe next time these social media "patriots" scarf down a hot dog, they should study the history of the country they live in and why they enjoy freedom.

Protestors near the barricade chanting,"Cops on campus, just go home." CalPoly administration has lost control of the campus and their attempt at PR is a disaster.

Around 10 p.m. this instagram post.

Shame on the rest of the local media who did not report and check on this; how long were theese media even "on scene" this evening? LOCO covering a band instead of suppression of information and silencing of student and other journalists.  Local "media" who has never had to struggle or be bullied or operate without the basics or have to work while barely surviving.  They sit at their comfy desks most of the time, warm with a steady paycheck, hobnobbing with the very people they cover and should hold accountable.

The same local media who was silent when I was attacked for my accurate coverage of Josiah Lawson's court case, the same local media who sat back and watched me be harassed, targeted, retaliated against for taking on the entrenched power and corruption in Humboldt County for decades.

On the morning of 4/28, the station manager posted this comment on the clarifying what actually happened at the student radio station.

This is what happens when CalPoly Humboldt administration reacts and closes the campus in reaction and one side controlling the narrative on social media.

In the regional and national coverage of this protest, Humboldt's wealthy, privileged on the left and right are being exposed for the callous predators they are. Eric Kirk went on campus to offer students legal support.A lawyer who is Jewish putting aside his personal feelings and being human. In contrast, Arkley flunkey and good ole boy sycophant John Fullerton offered to buy his office lunch. Now that will instantly solve the Israel Palestine conflict. 🙄  Fullerton thinks stuffing his face with a bagel is standing up to centuries of hate and prejudice? Was the multiple times failure candidate commenting on Eric's blog from his Old Town office where he, his staff and fellow Citizens for a Better Eureka member Ray Conti hog up parking spaces in the parking lot on 2nd and I?  How inconvenient for them that affordable housing gets in the way of their Humboldt generational entitlement. Arcata has their own NIMBY selfish, rich pissed that students are bringing attention to a side of the Middle East conflict being ignored by most national and international media.

CalPoly Humboldt press release:

A hard closure of campus is now being enforced. Individuals are prohibited from entering or being on campus without permission.

This includes road closures at Harpst and B as well as Plaza and LK Wood.

This closure means that nobody without authorization by University Police is allowed on the campus. Anyone on campus without permission is subject to citation or arrest.

Students who live on campus in residence halls are presumed to have permission to remain in the limited area of the hall they live in and dining facilities. Until further updates, student residents do not have permission to be in other parts of campus.

The campus is closed due to ongoing occupation of Siemens Hall and Nelson Hall, as well as continued challenges with individuals breaking laws in the area surrounding the buildings and the quad.
