John Chiv: Watson wants to modify TRO, City of Arcata wants another continuance

The hearing to see if the temporary restraining order against Brett Watson filed by the City of Arcata will be made permanent was already continued once. Today, there is another request by the City of Arcata to continue the hearing.

On 12/9 Watson filed a request to modify TRO. You can read the court documents from both parties in this post.

Watson's request to modify was granted. Instead of 100 yards, Watson only has to stay 10 yards away from Arcata City Attorney Nancy Diamond's office.

On 12/7 City of Arcata made a request to continue the hearing due to a medical emergency of Arcata Mayor Stacy Atkins-Salazar. That request was granted and the hearing continued to 2/14/23.

Ms. Kathryn Fox appeared via Zoom on behalf of the City of Arcata. No one from the City of Arcata was present. Ms. Fox already stated that she would check with the several people from Arcata and the date may need to be adjusted.

Mr. Jay Jambeck was present via Zoom for Watson who was not in court.

I covered a lot of what was said in previous posts including what Watson said about Arcata Police Department and why they did not search for additional firearms. Watson was ordered by Judge Timothy Canning to submit a declaration.

1/17/23: Brett Watson's 2021 case had been dismissed. A petition for VOP revocation was filed in that case. That hearing was continued to 2/14 to coincide with 2022 request for permanent restraining order filed by City of Arcata.The VOP hearing was continued due to witness unavailability.
