I already reported yesterday on Judge Steven Steward's enrobing ceremony. Humboldt Superior Court and that he is assigned to criminal court. Prior to that I had also reported on possible 2023 court assignments.
Humboldt Superior Court sent out a press release this evening confirming what I had posted.
Humboldt Superior Court Press Release:

He will be sworn in on January 3, 2023 and will begin his judicial duties in a criminal assignment.
Mr. Steward grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts in 2001. He has served as a Deputy District Attorney in Humboldt County since 2017, and as an attorney since 2009.
Presiding Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis stated that, “The Court is very excited to welcome Mr. Steward to the Humboldt County Superior Court bench.”
"It has been an honor to serve our community as a Humboldt County Deputy District Attorney where I have worked to keep our community safe while ensuring that all people are treated with dignity and respect.
