Just like the useless Humboldt interventions, now we have another "private" unneccessary informal conference

Preliminary hearing for Kevin Haberman was continued to August 3. Whether it is a go, will be decided on August 7 at the "informal conference" but the media and public won't know what happens until  August 10. That is the date when it is rescheduled on the preliminary calendar call.

Haberman's attorney is Christina Allbright. It was already known that there was no room for the preliminary hearing today. Ms. Allbright added a little humor when she changed the time estimate from an hour and half to two hours. "I can be a little verbose."

Deputy District Attorney Jane Mackie appeared on the case for the People.

It would be one thing if they actually resolved things at these interventions and "informal conferences". If that happens, it is a miracle. It isn't like attorneys don't have cases or other work to do.

Yet, another secret Humboldt Court "conference" at a time where media and public have no access to court records or in person attendance. Are people being pressured to resolve cases; both DA and defense?

The courts are using the pandemic as an excuse to have another closed courtroom, private conference. Who cares about civil liberties or transparency? Local government agencies have shown utter contempt for the media and public by shutting off access in person. There is no reason, one media person from each outlet cannot be granted some accessto do our jobs. I made this suggestion for the courts.
