Hwy 96 pursuit terminated "in the interest of life safety for others traveling on the road."

HCSO PIO Samantha Karges provided the following information regarding the Hwy 96 chase.

"At about 1:58 p.m. on Highway 96 near South Marshall Lane a sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle believed to be driven by a wanted felony warrant subject."

"The subject failed to yield and continued eastbound on Highway 96. The deputy initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle at one point reached speeds of approximately 95 miles per hour. "

"The California Highway Patrol was called to assist and our agency also inquired into utilizing CHP air support.  Due to the high speeds and reckless driving, deputies terminated the pursuit at about 2:22 p.m. in the interest of life safety for others traveling on the road.  "
