There are a total of 24, 588 unprocessed ballots and it will be "two to three weeks" until the elections office will have an update. The election staff will even be working through this holiday weekend.
I just spoke with County Registrar of Voters Kelly Sanders. I got a little more information for some categories with a screenshot of the breakdown.
Mail in ballots (from November 3 to 5):
5,324
Mail in ballots (from Nov 6-8):
4,430
Ballots from drop off box at the Humboldt County Election office (11/5 to 11/6):
3,332
Ballots from polling locations (from election day):
6,071
Conditional ballots:
457
Provisional ballots:
3,887
Unread ballots:
443
Ms. Sanders explained that unread ballots could include ballots where there was an errant mark and those cannot be scanned. Some ballots need to be duplicated before they can be scanned because the voter made a mistake and used white out.
Hey John. Then why are all these sources already declaring winners. That seems premature and unprofessional. Especially in tighter races. Looking to understand
ReplyDeleteGood question Chris but the only ones to answer that question are the ones making that claim. I have not made any such claim so you will have to ask those sources and people. I am just going to wait until the elections office processes all the ballots.
DeleteThe question I have is why is the news media claim a winner at the moment when the polls just closed in California and those votes have not been counted?
ReplyDeleteThe left is extremely paranoid, their fantasy blue Tidal Wave turned into a ripple. It's easier to hold the victory when you claim it first with a army of attorneys ready to defend it.
