"The people who know me know what I could accomplish as a Council Member. "
John Fullerton's candidate statement (Ward 3):
I love Eureka, it is a wonderful place to live I moved to Eureka 40 years ago and this is my forever home. I want to use my experience & leadership skills to make it even better for all of us.
Being a city council member is a serious job for serious people. They must be able to understand complicated budget issues and planning documents. They must also understand the community and to do that you must be active and engaged with many different types of people and groups.
I am a CPA, a business owner and family man. I have a deep understanding of what Eureka businesses need to thrive and create new jobs. I spent my years on the Eureka Planning Commission helping local businesses & individuals expand and cut through the red tape that sometimes strangles growth.
I have been very active in the community for a long time, volunteering for many different charitable organizations & public organizations including the Betty Chin Center. This is where my work with the poor & disadvantage (including 3 ½ years as a CASA Advocate) will help me understand their needs and concerns.
The people who know me know what I could accomplish as a Council Member. That is why I already have over 200 supporters signed up including FIVE former Council Members and ALL five of the people who served with me on the Eureka Planning Commission. They know I am a very high energy, very optimistic person who loves Eureka with a passion. An example of this is the many dozens of community cleanups I have participated in.
From day one on the council I will devote my energies to assure the Eureka City Council does the following;
- Be much more open & communicate with the public and actually LISTEN to people’s concerns
- Address problems we face with the homeless, discarded dirty needles, the general run down appearance in parts of Eureka.
- Support our Eureka Police Department with more than just words.
- Treat all citizens of Eureka with respect & listen to their concerns.
All of the above starts the very first day I am sworn into office. It is time for a change and I will bring a fresh perspective and energy to the council.
I would appreciate your vote on November 6th.
