Is Kent Sawatzky trying to warn me or send me a message?

Most local reporters know  Kent Sawatzky. He will call incessantly. 99% of the time, the tip is nothing. Kent is a "regular" at Board of Supervisor meetings and other government meetings.

Kent, I have no idea what you are talking about, as usual.

Kent called me Sunday. I called him back Monday. We spoke briefly on Tuesday. It was about the auditor controller race.  All seemed fine. Kent then called me several times this week; mostly while I was at the courthouse.

Today, I get this vague message. I tried calling him back, someone hung up me and then the line was busy. I left a voicemail at one of Kent's other numbers.

So, is Kent trying to warn me ? Or is someone trying to use me as "collateral damage?" And, who are they trying to destroy?

Regarding my blog, more than one local media colleague has told me that reporting the truth doesn't pay.

A local businessperson and I were having a conversation about that lately.  This person told me, "There are people that like your blog. They have the money but they don't support you financially because you are too honest."

My readers and advertisers are very diverse in their political, economic and religious views and they understand the value and challenges of independent reporting in a small, rural town.

Kent has gone from raising valid issues to just ranting in the last year. He has gone from being anti marijuana to suing the county on the cannabis ordinance. Kinda hard to take someone seriously when their stance changes just to get a few minutes in the spotlight.

If you are unfamiliar with Kent, here is a link to one post. It includes other  links from my blog:
