Three local high profile Fortuna cases; the two men in jail; while Marci is footloose and fancy free

Three local high profile Fortuna cases, all three suspects/defendants from Fortuna, all showing no remorse.

Two differences: the men, Jon Goldberg and Chad Smith have public defenders and are in jail.

The woman, Marci Kitchen, two private attorneys, not in custody and can travel anywhere she wants with permission from the Court, in "secret" pleadings. The latter privilege thanks to Judge Christopher Wilson.

Doesn't matter if the People raise oppositions. Guess it helps to have a boyfriend with tons of money so bail amount is not an issue and his father be a practicing attorney in Humboldt Superior Court. Not a single suspect/defendant has been given such "kiddy glove" treatment.

Judge Wilson told defense, no more continuances. Yet, a notice filed by defense regarding unavailability of counsel.

It isn't as if the attorneys did not know these dates were being set. She has two attorneys, why another delay?

(Kitchen)

(Goldberg)

(Smith)

    1. I heard that but no one is talking about it and I am not reporting on it until I can verify it. My contact information is at the top of the page. Send me an email with what you know. It will be confidential and I will look into it.

  5. I wondered about this myself. Marci makes good $$ it seems, being a drug dealer-or distributer-lots of cash, connections. She cannot accept responsibility for what SHE did, alcoholism (and other addictions) involve DENIAL. It's always someone else's fault. SAD>

  6. When a Judge has committed illegal acts while on the bench, such as with Marci Kitchen, wgo do you go to to have the Judge removed? How can this be the last stop in the process? Why hasnt the Father and parents of the girls who were killed by her hands stepped up and filed againat Mr. Wilson.

  7. What about Mark Wheetley, doesn't he have the same DUI lawyer as Marci Kitchen? Is he still acting City Manager of Fortuna? You make a good point John. Seems like certain people get special treatment in Humboldt County. At least the lawyer who went into court with a gun is being held accountable. Thanks for reporting stories that many others don't,for whatever bureaucratic reasons. GOOD job. What's going on in Arcata? Is anyone going to hold the police chief accountable for the HSU murder and the guy who shot into a house?

    1. Yes, Mark Wheetley does have the same lawyer who is one of two lawyers who represents Marci Kitchen and has also represented Rick Littlefield with five DUIs. The other lawyer who represents Marci Kitchen also represented Hezekiah Allen and is representing Kade Chandler.
