Cajun Asian Fusion with authentic French quarter beignets in Humboldt

Cajun Asian Fusion with authentic French quarter beignets in Humboldt

Yesterday, in Old Town, I got to try the delicious food from Yo Mama's Fish n Shrimp food booth.

Owner Tanya Coleman told me that a customized food trailer will be arriving in November and Yo Mama's will be parked at different locations in Eureka.

She co- owns the business with her husband
Claude Coleman and Toga Fonoti and Roberta Fonoti.

If you have beignets at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, these are even better.
Asked how someone from New Orleans would describe her beignets, Coleman said they would say these are the "thang" or give a "slap yo mama" thumbs up!

Yesterday was their 4th event this summer.
Some people attending previous events told Coleman that they came out to Old Town yesterday, just because they had heard Yo Mama's was going to be there.

Coleman said she is hoping the trailer will be in when they are at The Emerald Cup, December 10-11 in Santa Rosa.

  1. I just don't eat that farmed shrimp anymore, whether it's prepared locally or not. Is their fish going to be local? Other than the shrimp of unknown origin, full of antibiotics etc., the food sounds great.
