Floyd Squires sought a restraining order against City of Eureka; City trying work out the case within the next month
On Monday, Floyd Squires was in court to seek a restraining order against the City of Eureka taking further action against any of his other properties.
No decision was made on Monday; another hearing will take place next month. An attorney representing the City of Eureka appeared by phone. There was an agreement between the parties to hold off and "do nothing in the next month," Mr. Squires told me. "The City is going out work out the case by next month."
The tenant I spoke to in the post below, Leslie Walker, lived in the building that was boarded up on Third street, owned by Floyd Squires, for 22 years.
Read what she had to say about Mr. Squires.

Each City has slum lords. The attention arises when neighbors file complaints. Otherwise, the garbage dump homes go unnoticed by the authorities. How about a reward given for citizens who have a legitimate site that is deemed unliveable and unsafe? Might have half of downtown Eureka get turned in. Fortuna even has a few locations that should be plowed under. Got any suggestions folks?
ReplyDeleteYou make a very good point camelg1. The City of Eureka is selective who it goes after and that is a big red flag with singling out one person. How about rewarding the decent landlords and tenants?
