"I would like to see Eureka branded as a vibrant seaport town full of art and culture; a business-friendly city, with skilled-trade jobs, increased waterfront development and a booming aquaculture industry. "

Michelle Costantine (Candidate for Eureka Mayor):

(She paid for the statement to be printed in Spanish as well.)

I’m running for Mayor of Eureka because my vision is to see our city become the vibrant, safe, clean, and family-oriented city that I know it can be.

Since becoming a Eureka resident in 2006 and after my son was born here in 2012, I’ve noticed crime, drug use and the sale of illegal drugs grow exponentially. As a concerned parent and citizen, I decided to act and get involved in the community to help solve these issues and do my part to bring about positive change.

I began working closely with many local leaders, elected officials and numerous program directors, as well as volunteering for non-profits–all to better understand the issues and resources available.

This lead to starting the community action group Take Back Eureka, commended by the City of Eureka for its contribution to revitalizing and improving the city.
Through Take Back Eureka, I have organized such projects as painting the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Teen Center. I also Co-Chair the fundraising committee for Bids for Kids.

Keeping Eureka clean and safe is of utmost priority for me, which is why I petitioned for the California Safe Initiative, a ballot initiative written to amend some of the unintended consequences of Prop 47, 57 and AB109 that are having detrimental effects on our community.

It is also why I have co-sponsored numerous citywide cleanups, and sat on the Coast Guard Plaza renaming and celebration committee.

My background in corporate management, and education in religious studies and art has afforded me years of experience in sales and marketing. I would like to see Eureka branded as a vibrant seaport town full of art and culture; a business-friendly city, with skilled-trade jobs, increased waterfront development and a booming aquaculture industry.

Working hand-in-hand with the Board of Supervisors and our local law enforcement, I will fight to address some of our biggest mental health, addiction and homelessness problems, and support organizations already in place that connect people to resources.

It's time to put a stop to issues like illegal dumping throughout our beautiful city and work together to ensure it is a place future generations are proud to raise their families in. I am proud of the work I have started, and with your vote, I will continue to focus on the safety, revitalization and growth that Eureka desperately needs.
