North Coast News, Operation Safe Streets, Kym Kemp keep public posted live on N street shots fired

Latest at 11 p.m. from North Coast News, reporter Taylor Torregano who is on the scene, 8th and 9th street blocked off, after shots fired, a woman was heard yelling for help.

Operation Safe Streets posted "Eureka Police are out at the 800 block of N street on multiple reports of shots fired and one subject shot in the chest."

According to scanner traffic.   Suspect only described as a Latino male that possibly left in silver SUV.  Weapon used appears to be a shotgun and wound is to the chest.  Victim has been transported to the hospital and detectives have been called out.

At approximately 9:50 p.m., a 38-year-old male was shot in the chest possibly with a shotgun near 9th and N Street in Eureka. An ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital.
Eureka Police are searching for a suspect on foot who reportedly fled with a firearm eastbound on 8th. According to the scanner, the suspect was last seen heading southbound on N Street.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has been called in to assist.
