Hopefully someone called the police, if not I am the biggest new fan of the EPD twitter account.
Last night, for three hours, a drunk man was yelling. Could not see him because behind the hedges but the sound was coming from the parking lot on 2nd street near H and I.
Sound has a wonderful way of carrying blocks in Eureka, especially Old Town.
This was my first tweet @Eureka Police at 10:32 p.m.
@Eureka_Police We should have a non emergency number after hours. Drunk guy screaming obscenities for past 2 hours 2nd H & I on street.
Second tweet at 10:36 p.m. sent, unfortunately to myself, thanks to the moron's yelling.
The police showed up at 11:01.
Final tweet at 11:03.
@Eureka_Police Just heard the police pull up. Peace after three hours. Thank you EPD. This is not what police should be doing.
The trash near the hedges and the toothless yelling and familiarity of seeing these drunks and garbage piles around town, this isn't your average one time drunk; it is one of Old Town/Downtown's regular, chronic loiterers.
Next time, someone is yelling, maybe I can call one of the bleeding heart homeless "activists" or people who think laws should be lax for drunks, who can come take him to their home since they seem to think being drunk and/or high is somehow society's problem, not the fault of a iresponsible, inconsiderate drunk who just wasted police time and resources.
Maybe the "activists" can stay up all night listening to rants and obscenities while the rest of us get some sleep and go to work next day.
According to jail reports, a Robert Baily Dunn, arrested for being drunk by EPD, was booked into the jail at 11:43.
