I have done many posts about the challenges of covering Humboldt court, how I have been adding certain updates, the risks and that financially it has never been worth the time and effort I put in daily. Add to that the retaliation, having to deal with threats, physical and others so after 11 years, am I exhausted? Yes. Has my work ethic changed? No. The only people who understand the toll it takes and why cranky at the courthouse does not equal how one is in real life are the people who live it daily in the den of evil aka the Humboldt County Courthouse. Judges, attorneys, court staff, courthouse security and law enforcement. 

In the courthouse, there are those who carry more than their weight; then there are slackers, gossipers, haters who lash out and bring their negativity into a stressful environment and drain others who manage to smile despite challenges. That is the tale of two Humboldts.

I have dealt with the public, been a reporter in other parts of the country but Humboldt, some of you take needy and cray cray to a level where you would even test Jesus' patience. 

Adam Walter arrested by APD for lewd or lascivious acts on a minor

 

Adam Walter was arrested yesterday by Arcata Police Department for PC 288(a) lewd or lascivious acts on a minor.

DA has charged Walter with three felonies. Count 1 PC 288.5 (a) continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years. Count 2 PC 288. 3 (a) contacting a minor to commit a felony. Count 3 PC 664/288 (a) attempt to commit a lewd act on a child.

Alleged victim in Count 1 is John Doe. Alleged victim in Count 2 and 3 is Paul Doe.

Governor Greg Abbott  signed Senate Bill 38 and Senate Bill 1333 into law today. At 2:51 p.m. California Gavin Newsom's Press Office issued a press release on his redistricting plans. Despite the tweets on X, the buildup was a fizzle.

Due to transportation issues, Antone Aubrey's hearing on outpatient treatment delayed

 

On 8/11, Antone Aubrey's petition hearing for outpatient treatment was continued by stipulation due to transportation issues from the Department of State Hospital He could not be transported until 8/13.

California Ranch Foods pleads guilty to two counts in a criminal case prosecuted by LA DA's office; two workers died after being exposed to nitrogen gas; plea agreement will cost them over 6.6 million plus $35 million settlement with families of the victims

California Ranch Foods, a subsidiary of Golden West Food Group, pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts after being criminally charged in connection with the 2020 deaths of two workers fatally exposed to nitrogen gas.

Sean Charles Dunn faces 10 years in prison on federal charges of assault for throwing a Subway sandwich at Customs and Border Protection officer on patrol in DC

 

These photos are being circulated in various reports online. There is also a video taken by a bystander of 37 year old Sean Charles Dunn.

Dunn is facing up to 10 years in prison if convicted after being arrested for throwing a sandwich at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer patrolling Northwest D.C.

According to a statement of facts by Metro Transit Police Detective Daina Henry, yelled at Customs and Border Protection Agent Gregory Lairmore "Fuck you! You fucking fascists! Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!”

While being processed, Dunn confessed saying, "I did it. I threw the sandwich."

On August 14, a press release was issued and identified Dunn as a former Department of Justice employee who had been fired by Attorney General Pam Bondi. 

One correction to the press release. A subway sandwich is not and will never be a hoagie. Calling a Subway sandwich a hoagie should be  a felony. As a former Philadelphian, I had to point out that fact.

"He took a Subway sandwich about this big and took it and threw it at the officer,"said U.S. Attorney, District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro in a video posted on X. "Assault a law enforcement officer, and you’ll be prosecuted. This guy thought it was funny—well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today, because we charged him with a felony. So there, Stick your Subway sandwich somewhere else."

Jumped up & down like a buffoon, wasted a sandwich, then ran away like a coward. The video can be his keepsake of achieving bupkus.

8/15/25: Sandwich "felon" is still getting roasted on X. 

My response was: "$5 for a sub ? in D.C.? That aside, the post is hilarious. Would a BMT have gotten him a misdemeanor?

Civil harassment restraining order filed by Alannah Smith against terroristic and criminal threat suspect Daryl Jones

A petition for civil harassment restraining order was just filed against terroristic and criminal threat suspect Daryl Jones by Alannah Smith.

Smith was listed as pro per. It was just filed.This is in addition to his criminal cases. Court documents were scanned into e court on 8/15/25 after Commissioner Sarah Kaber reviewed them. Hearing scheduled on 9/3. With court documents listed, it shows Ms. Joanne Carter as Smith's attorney.

Alannah Smith is not listed as an alleged victim in the two criminal cases which are scheduled for a preliminary hearing on 8/25/25. 

 This is the Alannah Smith who is the Director of Operations at Cal Poly Humboldt California Center for Rural Policy. Request for restraining order indicates that DA is considering amending the complaint to add her as an alleged victim. Additional parties listed on restraining order request are Charles Thomas partner and Rebecca Thomas sister.

Cameron Johnson arrested by California Department of Forestry for criminal threats and arson; Jack Daniels arrested by CHP for DUI

Cameron McRae Johnson was arrested yesterday by the California Department of Forestry for two counts of PC 422 criminal threats and three counts of PC 451(c) arson.

After the DA filed complaint, the correct middle name is McRay. This is the Swains Flat suspect. Johnson's arraignment is scheduled for 8/14.

Jack Kyle Daniels was arrested by CHP this morning for VC 23152 (a) DUI and VC 23152(b) driving with blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

Daniels has 26 cases in Humboldt Superior Court and five previous  convictions for DUI.

85 year old Raymond Luzzi arrested by HCSO on Ramey warrant for possession of child pornography

 

85 year old Raymond Aldo Luzzi was arrested  by HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor on a Ramey warrant and booked into the Humboldt County jail yesterday PC 311.11(a) for possession of child pornography. Luzzi posted bond.

The DA has time to file charges since Luzzi is out of custody. 

While checking on Luzzi in Humboldt Superior Court, he has no criminal case but based on a family law case from 1997 which has no documents in e court, I may know his ex wife and other family members.

Based on how previous cases have been handled in Humboldt Superior Court, even if there is a plea or conviction in these cases; it is slap on the wrist because in Humboldt courts, defense attorneys and certain retired and current judges including Visiting judges seem to think sex offenders who fail to register or those who possess child porn should not be held accountable. Even lawyers from LA were shocked this happens in Humboldt.

10/3/25: I have checked e court regularly for charges; nothing filed yet. I checked with DA staff three times including today. The case is still being reviewed. This is contrary to claims by a family member that the case was dismissed. I have 20 to 30 plus Humboldt cases to check daily and that is in addition to other court cases and news. The Humboldt DA is months behind in filing charges and if the person is out of custody, there is not a rush. I am not checking this case every day. If the case is dismissed, Luzzi or the family member can provide me evidence from the DA and I will update the post.

66 year old woman from Las Vegas "traveled alone from out of the area to intentionally end her life."

 

On 08-12-2025 at approximately 6:43 P.M., Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to the area of Portuguese Beach (Mendocino Headlands State Park), regarding a deceased person being located on the beach below a cliff.

12 criminal cases, 3 restraining orders granted and a fourth WVRO requested by City of Eureka after death threats and explicit threats by Aunna Bollman to current and former elected officials and City of Eureka staff

 

Aunna Bollman's has 12 criminal cases with a preliminary hearing scheduled in her latest case for 8/27.

The alleged victims in the latest criminal case are City of Eureka Assistant Manager and City Clerk Pam Powell, Humboldt County Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees and Donna Cotham who was Bollman's former neighbor at Serenity Inn.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor. Mr. Gregory Kreis is Bollman's attorney.

She already has three civil restraining orders against her requested granted by the City of Fortuna, County of Humboldt and DANCO. On 8/7, the City of Eureka filed a petition for workplace restraining order. The City of Eureka is represented by Ms. Lisa J. Sharkey from San Francisco's Renee Public Law Group. Protected parties are City of Eureka Assistant Manager and City Clerk Pam Powell, City of Eureka Manager Miles Slattery and City of Eureka Mayor Kim Bergel with additional city employees listed in attachment including Ms. Christine Lopez, Paralegal and Deputy City Clerk for the City of Eureka.

On July 1, Bollman left a voicemail for Powell containing death threats including she would "blow Pamela J. Powell's fucking head off." From July 2023 to July 3, 2025, Bollman left 30 messages with atleast 25 explicit threats against various City employees. In Powell's declarations, she states more specific threats, Bollman knowing details about her son's friends, connections to her family. Bollman left threats directed at former Eureka Mayor Susan Seaman and former Eureka City Manager Greg Sparks. Judge Kaleb Cockrum signed a criminal protective order dated July 9, 2025 for Powell.

That does nothing. Judge Cockrum is the one who has granted mental health diversion to Sean Lundy and Analia Martinez who violated multiple protective orders and number of criminal cases. Judge Steven Steward and Judge Lawrence Killoran tried to protect the public. These are only two examples of failed diversion. If you read my blog, there are many more.

Bollman has 11 criminal cases and three restaining orders before this 12th criminal case and 4th request for a workplace restraining order.

A hearing is scheduled for 8/27 in Courtroom 8 after Commissioner Sarah Kaber signed the request by the City of Eureka for temporary restraining order on 8/12/25. The TRO was granted for Slattery, Powell and Fazio; denied for other City of Eureka employees. Bollman can go to City Hall of Eureka for legitimate business purposes. Eureka Police Department to be notified in advance when Bollman plans to be at City Hall.

Dwivedi Tower LLC's latest filing claims exemption under California Civil Codes specific to the issues in the Hillsdale Apartments lawsuit and asks Judge Canning to strike and dismiss the second amended complaint

There have been three important developments in a local lawsuit. One I already reported on five days ago. 

On August 7, I reported that local attorney Randall Davis is no longer representing Dwivedi Tower LLC and Mr. Anil Dwivedi in the lawsuit filed by local firm Janssen Malloy on behalf of Don Swall and Vanessa Vachon who are two current tenants of the Hillsdale Apartments in Eureka. Janssen Malloy Senior partner Mr. Patrik Griego recently took over the case from Ms. Meagan Yarnall and Mr. Jeffrey Slack.

Dwivedi Tower LLC and Mr. Dwivedi are represented by San Francisco Dhillon Law Group's Mr. Anthony Fusaro who is now co-counsel with Ms. Krista Baughman.

I check this case every day. The August 4 filing by Dhillon Law Group was not entered into e court until today, despite the entry date in e court stating August 4. In defendant's answer to the second amended complaint and affirmative defense, the ninth affirmative defense claims Dwivedi Tower LLC are "exempted from liability under Civil Code 1947.12" and "Civil Code 1947.12 (d) (4).

The defendants are also asking Judge Timothy Canning to strike/dismiss the entire second amended complaint. There is a case management scheduled on 10/10/25.

ICE LA arrests two convicted Vietnamese rapists who sexually assaulted six women including minors at gunpoint, were paroled early, continued to engage in criminal activities and will now be deported

 

ICE LA arrested Quoc Bo Pham and Dung Quoc Pham.

RCRC caves to big corporate AT & T but State Sheriff's including Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal oppose AB 470 for public safety

 

This morning a member of the public spoke on AB 470. If you are not familiar with the bill, google it or look at the Humboldt Board of Supervisors video of the meeting when it is available. Don't fall for the AT & T spin. Rural County Representatives of California has now taken a neutral stance "caving into big corporate AT & T" a reader told me. State Sheriff's are watching out for the public and opposing it; I just confirmed that with Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal who I saw briefly at the Courthouse.

Even if you do not live in a remote, rural area where cell service is non existent or iffy, shouldn't rural representatives advocate for their constituents?
