A Humboldt :outsider" ran against an incumbent judge and won by 26 votes

Greg Conners's dad was a Deputy District Attorney when he ran against an incumbent judge. The anmouncement that he would run was in 1958. Robert Conners won the race by 26 votes. He was an outsider and had only been in Humboldt County for 8 years prior. Judge Robert Conners remained on the bench  until he passed away in 1971.
Fortuna business owners Greg and Carol Conners are well known to anyone who regularly keeps up with local news and politics.

I requested some information from Greg Conners and appreciate his response. "When you are in the courthouse on the second floor, the courtroom across from the elevators has words on it's doors: Eureka Judicial District. Dad was the first and only Justice of the Peace in that courtroom, and was the first and only Municipal Court judge until his death. These courts have since been absorbed into the current system. Dad was a member of the state Judicial Council and was from the old school."

This was several decades ago which made that win which is a testament that the good ole Humboldt boys and gals can be ousted. Today, people have a lot more access to information which they can verify for themselves.
