San Francisco contamination, needle, human waste and other issues similar to challenges in Eureka and Humboldt

                          (NBC Bay Area)

One infectious disease expert has compared  San Francisco to some of the dirtiest slums in the world and says the contamination in San Francisco is greater than many other places in the world.

Mohammed Nuru, San Francisco's director of public works, is the city's point man charged with cleaning up the streets. He tells Here & Now's Jeremy Hobson that "it's definitely challenging times" and that the department has been diverted away from normal trash pickup routes into the areas concentrated by people who are homeless

"The NBC Bay Area Investigative Unit surveyed 153 blocks of downtown San Francisco in search of trash, needles, and feces. The investigation revealed trash littered across every block. The survey also found 41 blocks dotted with needles and 96 blocks sullied with piles of feces."

"The Investigate Unit spent three days assessing conditions on the streets of downtown San Francisco and discovered trash on each of the 153 blocks surveyed. While some streets were littered with items as small as a candy wrapper, the vast majority of trash found included large heaps of garbage, food, and discarded junk. The investigation also found 100 drug needles and more than 300 piles of feces throughout downtown. "

  1. This is our future until we somehow stop the Democratic Socialist Insurgency this is a culture crisis. I give you evidence from the doctor's statement below.

    Dear Mr. President:

During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ring tone. While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.

And, you and our Congress expect ME to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses, nor the money to pay them. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture", a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based on the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me."

Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.

    Respectfully,

    STARNER JONES, MD

    2. Thanks John, this only proves the point that the cultural difference has grown wider. We are growing into a third world country of the haves and have nots. Where a young boy can't even leave his bike outside a store for five minutes because a druggie have not steals it.....oh too late.
