Other local media not reporting on Blue Lake Rancheria v Kalshi is just another example of selective coverage

 

Readers paying attention know other local media do selective coverage. Over the years, I have pointed out examples and so have readers.

Lost Coast Outpost did not cover this lawsuit because the federal judge's ruling was against their minority owner.

You didn't read about this lawsuit in other local media.

LOCO ran a press release about Von Hawley Butterfield and this was their headline. Do you believe LOCO didn't know who Butterfield is and would they have done anything if EPD had not issued a press release which was a day after my post? I included that Butterfield is a local financial consultant when I reported about his arrest. Other readers mentioned my coverage including this relevant information about Butterfield on other local media sites.

Same with Redheaded Blackbelt.

Now, both LOCO and RHBB are suddenly covering and doing random court coverage which I have done for 12 years. Their snippets are with errors and days,  weeks or months after I have reported on cases. Look at the court cases they avoid. No one else reported on Eureka Natural Foods and Coast Central Credit Union lawsuits or Rick Littlefield's five DUIs.

LOCO and RHBB give a pass to certain people and coverage but have no problem "reporting" on average Joe or Jane. LOCO and RHBB cannot even come up with an original idea for content on their sites.

Contrary to what the clueless insiders and those decades long few groupies think, LOCO is a blog, RHBB is a blog and the blog format is valid but not when you allow random opinions and post content from people who have never worked as a journalist or media. 

The anon farts and irrelevant groupies like just sayin and others have been online on since I moved here live on certain local media sites. They make a lot of noise to distract. Giving them space isn't free speech; it is a passive agressive move from owners of these sites to smear others they don't have the guts to talk about publicly and to try and silence any independent reporting. Media isn't supposed to be a part of the establishment; it is supposed to hold them accountable.

I am one person without the staff,  resources and funds other local media has; I was relentlessy attacked and harassed this weekend while reporting live, breaking news and covering multiple incidents. I still updated over 40 court cases and  managed to report on the homicide suspect and arrest of Travis Watson.

Nothing on other local media. 

The same Humboldt haters and tactics who finally led me to restrict comments on the blog think they have also suceeded on Facebook.  I have tempirarily restricted comments because I will not allow my time or comment section to be misused and my protection and my readers. There is so much unsubstantiated information and smears online on Reddit, LOCO and RHBB and it is always anon. Even those who use their names get away with it because Humboldt is full of fear. We have no elected official, lawyer or business leader with guts to stand up to the local pitchfork crowd and bullies. The status quo benefits from LOCO and RHBB. Even the so called Humboldt "conservatives" are afraid of competition and a free market. 

What certain people are doing is trying to silence me and they have interfered with my ability to work and they think that by limiting positive comments on Shannon Miranda or any other comments, they can control narrative or the truth. They won't. 

Humboldt haters have harassed people who share my work and stand up for me. Some of them stopped. That affects my ability to make a living. 

Humboldt destroyers who have nothing to offer obsess and attack anyone who challenges the status quo that works for them and any improvements to a small, rural county that is in desperate need for change.

What these haters don't know is how much support and feedback I have received just this weekend.  People have contacted me who I have not heard from in years. These haters are not smart. The more they mention me in comments, the more they attack me isn't working they way they thought it would but they keep doing the same thing because of foolishness? ego? lack of ? or all the above? 

They provided me documentation and names. I shared what was going on with a few lawyers while this was happening for my protection, which includes my physical safety, as well as to make a record. 

I could expose more people who smeared me. Why? They are doing such a "good job" on their own of showing their true colors; I rather use the time for respite.

I have reported on some of weekend haters on my blog. Others have jumped on the bandwagon and there are many reasons. Many people know me or have heard of me me. They believe the lies and gossip. Everyone in Humboldt knows someone I have reported on or their family and the criminals and others I have exposed in public interest definitely know who I am.

So they take any opportunity to attack like the Shannon Miranda coverage. All they have is insults. They can't argue with facts. 

People can see who is reporting, what is being covered and by whom. People notice. People pay attention. My readers include voters, businesses, people with power, people with influence and people who value independent reporting.

If Humboldt wants to be taken seriously other than a statewide and national joke; they need to stop funding and supporting the local Jerry Springer show which includes what passes as certain Humboldt "media". They need to stop supporting businesses and owners that act like "mobs" with pitchforks, go on Facebook andact like they are in high school and they need to hold elected officials accountable if there are conflicts of interest or the perception.

Humboldt won't. Humboldt likes gossip including lawyers and people with money. Before I had this blog, I spent time with the political and business crowd.

Humboldt has no clue what journalism is unless it is stroking their egos or promoting a biased narrative. Those with money rather waste it on failed measures on the ballot and petty ego battles rather than fund skill or anything concrete to improve Humboldt because they want control. They don't have it with me and they will never do the right or decent thing and support me; even though it is good for Humboldt.

Even before today's global and national digital media landscape; Humboldt can only bully locally in systems they control. Humboldt is irrelevant nationally and Humboldt continues to drive away decent businesses and law enforcement because of the same destructive mentality and selfishness.
