California Department of Forestry sues Mercer Fraser, Goat Rock Ranch and Chalk Mountain Ranch

I have reported on several lawsuits involving Mercer Fraser. There is another lawsuit filed by Charles Garth against Mercer Fraser vs which had a Case Management Conference scheduled for May 11 which was vacated. Check the previous post on that case for update on that lawsuit.

Confused? Take it up with Mercer Fraser who have so much money to waste on lawsuits that they keep filing paperwork causing reshuffling of dates and last minute changes to dates scheduled. With the amount of daily cases I cover and this happening with more than Mercer Fraser, I am not checking cases scheduled months in advance to see if dates changed.

There are 100 searches that come up in Humboldt Superior Court for Mercer Fraser with at least 40 traffic cases. I stopped counting at 40. The 100 search results do not even the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection against Mercer Fraser or the lawsuit Mercer Fraser filed against Chalk Mountain Ranch.

The Mercer Fraser lawsuits that are of interest is this latest one and the related post I have been covering; CV2501644 Goat Rock Ranch and Mercer Fraser vs Chalk Mountain Ranch and Brandon Barnwell. The screenshots above are the three posts on CV2501644.

On 5/8/26, I noticed this case, CV2600994 California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection vs Mercer Fraser, Goat Rock Ranch and Chalk Mountain Ranch, on the calendar. When I checked the case, CV2501644 is mentioned. I have provided links to the three posts I did on CV2501644 so you can read them for yourself and see what the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection lawsuit says and the filings by Chalk Mountain Ranch's attorney, Ms. Allison Jackson.

The Department of Forestry is represented by Ms. Lauren Week. This was for an ex parte hearing regarding a preliminary injunction and order to show cause. A Case Management Conference is scheduled on 11/2/26. Court minutes were not up on Friday. They are still in draft form on Monday 5/11/26 so I have to wait until they are finalized. The minutes were finalized in the afternoon.

This is the order signed 5/8/26 by Humboldt Superior Court Presiding Judge Kelly Neel.

Judge Kelly Neel was calling the calendar in Courtroom 4 on May 8 since Humboldt Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning was not in that day. In CV2600994, there is a hearing scheduled on 6/12/26 for order to show cause "why a preliminary injunction should not issue." There is a Case Management Conference scheduled on 11/2/26.

The court documents I have provided regarding CV2600994 will give you the key basics in the two above mentioned lawsuits.

Of course, these lawsuits involving Mercer Fraser won't be covered by the other local media in their so called random and selective court coverage. The other local media may cover this State lawsuit against Mercer Fraser now that they see the response and after weighing the option of who they want to appease; the good ole Humboldt boys and gals or the environmentalists.

If the so called "local media" follow up on what I report; it is a day late and a dollar short.  As usual, after I report and research and take the risk. Those in Humboldt who fund and support these other "local media" and their selective "reporting" but ignore independent reporting and original content should explain their reasoning to the public, their customers and voters about why certain people and lawsuits get coverage while others are ignored.

Since we are talking funding and support, even before they advertised with me, I sought out certain lawyers. I did so because of their success for their clients but also because they take on cases against the local powers to benefit the community. Search Janssen Malloy, Harland Law Firm and Andrea Sullivan on my blog. Do you have any idea how hard these lawyers work and still go the extra mile? They also respect my independence. Even when my coverage is not favorable to them.

These lawsuits would not be necessary if people in Humboldt had guts, pride in their county and rewarded good business practices. There are certain local businesses who never make the news; they treat their employees and customers well but they do not get write ups in the local newspaper or a shout out from First District Supervisor Rex Bohn or the paid promoters such as the Chamber of Commerce. They don't get written about in the other "local media."

Here are just two of the many posts I did on Mercer Fraser. Did you see that coverage elsewhere? And before I did these posts?

I am not going to list all the Mercer Fraser lawsuits or provide links. They can be accessed via Google or the search feature on my blog. For convenience, there are paid options.

For 12 years, I have provided a lot for free including court minutes that people would have to go look up themselves or pay for per page and still do if it is needed in a post. If you are a reader outside Humboldt County; it is unfortunate that due to the misuse, abuse and Humboldt constantly taking advantage of me; you have to pay the price.
