EPD and CSET arrested alleged molestor 48-year-old Edward Neagu this morning

Eureka Police Department just issued this press release on today's arrest of alleged molestor 48-year-old Edward Neagu. I checked and he was booked on no bail custody status. EPD did not list a middle name, the jail does not have one but a Facebook search shows only one Edward Michael Neagu. Most of you know where to find booking photos which media is not allowed to post until there is a conviction. You can compare it to Neagu's Facebook AI joke of a photo.

Neagu has four traffic cases in Humboldt Superior Court. Three convictions and one dismissal after proof of correction.

EPD press release:

"On May 18, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Detectives with the Eureka Police Department (EPD), along with  Officers from the Community Safety Engagement Team (CSET), served a search warrant at an apartment in the 200 block of P Street. The search warrant was related to an ongoing sexual assault investigation being conducted by EPD.

During the service of the search warrant, Officers contacted 48-year-old Edward Neagu of Eureka. Evidence related to criminal activity was located and collected from the residence, and Neagu was taken into custody on the following charges:

• PC 286(b)(2) – Sodomy of a person under age 16

• PC 286(c)(2) – Sodomy by means of force, violence, duress

• PC 287(b)(2) – Oral copulation with a person under 16

• PC 288(c)(1) – Lewd acts with a child

• PC 288.2 – Distribution of Child pornography

• PC 288.3 – Contacting a minor for the purpose to commit lewd acts

• PC 288.4 – Meeting with a minor for the purpose of committing lewd acts

• PC 289(a)(1)(C) – Sexual penetration of a minor.

• PC 236 – False Imprisonment

• PC 222 – Providing an intoxicating agent for the purpose of committing a felony"
