I reported last month that in a court document Gregory Kreis claimed he will have no income starting 5/27/24. I also wrote about him renting a law office locally. Today, I heard he has atleast one family law client and will be practicing law effective 5/28/24. I checked his family law case. There has been no filing indicating a change in his income.

The Commission on Judicial Performance proceedings have not concluded. The California State Bar still lists him as a Judge.
Who in their right mind would hire Kreis? His fiancee, Tanya Ellis, works in self help and is very involved in family law cases. Current, retired Humboldt judges have most Visiting Judges have worked with Kreis as a judge and former attorney. He still has access and keys to Humboldt Courthouse because he is still a Humboldt Superior Court employee until May 27.
It has been weeks since I reported and contacted Humboldt Superior Court CEO Meara Hattan who has not responded about the email sent to court staff saying Kreis is on vacation until 5/27/24 and will not be returning to Humboldt Superior Court. I have reached out to Governor Gavin Newsom's Judicial Appointment staff and am waiting to hear back. I asked if Kreis had submitted a resignation and if they had received an application for interim appointment from Ms. April Van Dyke. She won by a large margin and ousted Kreis, a sitting judge under investigation by the CJP.
I contacted the California Judicial Council and confirmed Humboldt administration and the Governor's office would be the places for my inquiries about any resignation and appointments.
Are the state agencies overseeing courts asleep because it is seems no one is keeping an eye on what Kreis is upto.
