"At the end, the evidence will show Mr. Alexander committed 10 separate acts of sexual molestation proven beyond a reasonable doubt"

"The evidence will show you this case involves relationships," said Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads in her opening statement to the jury in alleged molestor Mario Alexander's case.

The words Family, Friends, Parent, Child, Trust, Authority were on the Power Point presentation. Explaining law, elements of the crimes and going over details of the acts alleged by Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2, Ms. Eads outlined the People's case against Alexander.

She talked about how these relationships deteriorated over time. Jane Doe #2 is Alexander's stepdaughter. Jane Doe # 1 was Jane Doe #2's best friend. Both girls were under the age of 10 when the alleged molestation occurred.

Jane Doe #1 was 8 years old in 2016. She is now 11 years old. In late 2015 to early 2016, Jane Doe #1 spent a lot of time at Jane Doe #2's house. Jane Doe #1's mom was a working mom, " she sought help from the Alexanders". Jane Doe #1  would spend time at their house while her mom was at work.

"Sometimes only Mr. Alexander and his son ( a toddler) would be home with Jane Doe #1.

Jane Doe #1 started making excuses why she didn't want to go over to the Alexander home but she did until April 8, 2016 when "Jane Doe #1 was finally able to tell her mom" the real reason.

Shannon, Jane Doe #1's mom called the police, she spoke with Deputy Eric Morris and she called Julianna, Jane Doe #2's mom.

Deputy Morris contacted CWSand a CAST referral was started.

On April 18, 2016 Alexander was advised he couldn't be around the children and he moved out of his residence.

Ms. Eads explained what a CAST interview is and then the jury saw a photo of Jane Doe #1 with interviewer Dori Larson. That CAST interview was done on April 22, 2016.

During the CAST interview, Jane Doe #1 mentioned three separate incidents . Each incident involves Alexander touching Jane Doe #1 in a lewd and lascivious manner.

There were two occasions where Alexander "put his hands down her pants, touched her bottom. One happened in a bedroom; one in a living room."

On another occasion, "defendant spread Jane Doe #1's legs apart while standing next to her bunk bed when she was sleeping. She believes he left because he saw her open her eyes."

Then the power point presentation flashed, "She told me things happened to her too"; "Things that were too awful."

Ms. Eads spoke about Jane Doe #2 who is Alexander's stepdaughter. She was 9 years old in 2016. Alexander married her mom on 2011.

Photo of Jane Doe #2 at her CAST interview was shown. She was also interviewed by Dori Larson.

"The defendant started touching her when she was about 6 years old. "

Alexander touched her chest, her nipples, her belly, rubbing her over her clothes, he told her to take off her clothes. "The behavior escalated," said Ms. Eads. "He rubbed her private parts over and under her clothes, had her touch him, masturbate him and made her orally copulate him."

Jane Doe #2 described details about semen, the taste, the texture. Alexander told her this is the stuff that makes babies but "only if it is in the butt."

Jane Doe #2 and Alexander had Daddy-Daughter days once a month. Alexander wouldn't tell Jane Doe whatvthe special treat woyld be. Inappropriate touching occurred on those days.

Ms. Eads went over the charges. She said there are 10 counts "but only two separate crimes that happened."

Count 1 and 2 PC 288.7 (b) acts of oral copulation with a child age 10 or younger. These counts pertain to Jane Doe #2.

Counts 3-7 PC 288 (a) Lewd or lascivious act upon a child. These counts also pertain to Jane Doe #2.

Counts 8 -10 Lewd or lascivious act upon a child. These pertain to Jane Doe #1.

Ms. Eads listed timeframes, explained intent, wilful touching, believability of witnesses. She said "consent is not a defense", explaining that a child may not say no or stop.

"At the end, the evidence will show Mr
Alexander committed 10 separate acts of sexual molestationproven beyond a reasonable doubt."
