"Happened to be my daughters class. Kid in question is named Sopo who is a cousin of Rey Malauga. Teacher cussed out the boy for what was a misinterpretation of a basketball bounced off a wall as a throw at the sub. "
"Sopo lost his cool and threatened to cut up the teacher. Kid left, class was called. Had to go pick her up. Sopo came back and had to be restrained by staff, all the while screaming something about taking his medicinal weed and offending his (Polynesian) heritage."
"When we got our daughter there were 3 EPD cars there and the boy was removed. A knife and weed was found in his backpack. Kid played JV football with my daughter and was in her weights class after school. Might not be after today. Bit of an unsettling moment for her class."
Mr. Fred Van Vleck responded to my email with the following response:
"While I cannot get into the details because of privacy issues for the students involved, I can say that nobody was threatened with a knife nor was there a knife involved. Nobody is injured and all students and staff are safe. We will be following up with approximately disciplinary action as needed."
Scanner call information: EPD headed to Eureka High School gym in response to a 15 year old, who maybe under the influence and was causing a disturbance.
