A hearing on the release of subpoenaed documents and People's expert Dr. Jessica Ferranti's report was scheduled for March 12 in Hugo Parral-Aguirre's case.
The issue of records was continued to March 19. Today, the defense said they no longer believe Aguirre is PC 1368, that is they no longer doubt his competency to stand trial. They asked Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis to reappoint Dr. Ramirez.
At the last hearing Aguirre's attorney, Ms. Meagan O'Connell objected to the release of two subpoenas from the correctional facility requested by the DA. They are Aguirre's medical and psychiatric records.
Criminal proceedings have been suspended in the case after the defense declared doubt regarding Aguirre's competency.
Aguirre is charged with attempted murder of Deputy Rosalie Freixas; attempted murder of Carol Fuentes; false imprisonment of Courtney Schlapicohl and assault with a firearm on Sgt. Greg Musson.
The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Josh Rosenfeld.
