On June 9, I was the first to report that Curtis Davis was no longer employed by the City of Eureka as a Deputy City Attorney and was terminated. I got a brief response from Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery confirming June 6, 2025 was Mr. Davis' last day with the City of Eureka.

Former Security National employee, former Humboldt Planning Commission member and former County Assessment Appeals Board member Brian Mitchell has three 2025 cases.
Mitchell went from his custody status being changed to no bail by Judge Lawrence Killoran on 7/3 to having one 2025 case CR2501225B dismissed on 7/8/25 by Humboldt Deputy DA Jessica Watson. He was held to answer in CR2501224 to Count 1 after his preliminary hearing by Judge Steven Steward. Defense request to reduce to a misdemeanor was granted. Stay away from the location in Mckinleyville that he has a trespassing charge in his third case. Judge Steven Steward reinstated supervised release. Trial confirmation is on 7/22 ; jury trial on 7/28. CR2501322 has the same dates but is trailing. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell is Mitchell's attorney.
Mitchell a 2024 domestic violence case was dismissed by Humboldt Deputy DA Brandon Boozari on the day of the preliminary hearing because the alleged victim, Anthony Sjoquist, did not show up and told Arcata Police and the DA's office he did not want to pursue charges. That case also happened to be calendared before Judge Steven Steward. Ms O'Connell also represented Mitchell in the 2024 case.
Humboldt judges don't get to chose every case on their calendar or what preliminary hearing is assigned to them.
7/9/25: A third case CR2501351 was filed on 7/9 for Mitchell. PC 496d (a) buying and receiving a stolen Kia from Mickey's Quality Cars.

No one cares about your story and unverified claims. If they do and without researching you first or any evidence; no one cares what they think either.
Doing this court blog, I have received death threats, been harassed and get messages via email and Facebook and that includes suspects, defendants and those who do not deserve mental health diversion which is overused in Humboldt court cases.
If I had a quarter for every useless email and message like yours I have received doing this blog for 11 years, I could at least pay my minimum daily expenses for this blog which is news, information and a service to the community.
Instead Michael, you and other selfish, self absorbed, unremorseful Humboldt losers interrupt me constantly and have a knack of doing so on a stressful, busy day and week when I am working 24/7. You are broke or at least claim to be since your legal expenses are being paid by taxpayers so suing you isn't an option.
The reason for this post is public safety and for the alleged victims in your open cases. You wanted the DA's attention. With this post, consider the DA's office notified.
Just because you spew something on Facebook; it isn't "news. Humboldt FB users are full of people with time to waste 24/7 including convicted criminals; suspects and people posting about court cases who are currently waiting on mental health diversion or have been granted mental health diversion.
Mental health diversion did not work for Aunna Bollman and other repeat offenders I have reported on my blog. Michael, your behavior out of custody should be noted by all present and Retired Humboldt judges who may preside over a hearing on your open cases.

Aunna Bollman had 11 cases on yesterday for a Marsden motion. Today, arraignment and confirmation of counsel was scheduled for Bollman's 2025 case which now makes it 12 cases. There are three civil restraining orders against her which were granted for three years and were requested by the City of Fortuna, County of Humboldt and DANCO.
Conflict Counsel declared conflict on 7/8 and the Marsden was withdrawn. Today, Gregory Kreis was appointed. Bail was set at $45,000 by Judge Cockrum. OR bail on 7/10; preliminary hearing 7/17. Her previous 11 cases are also on calendar for OR bail on 7/10. After tomorrow, let's see if whether she will remain on mental health diversion. I think it should be terminated and she needs to go through the court process or take a plea and be jailed or committed to the State Hospital and forced to take meds and go through rehab.
Judge Kaleb Cockrum recused himself from the 2025 which makes sense given that Humboldt Deputy DA Roger Rees is one of the alleged victims in this latest case. There maybe other reasons that might come out as this latest case proceeds through the system.
Why is Kreis being court appointed in this case? Kreis also has the same conflict being a former Humboldt Superior Court Judge and now as a defense attorney.
The Ramey warrant was signed by Judge Kelly Neel and authored by Eureka Police Detective Amber Cosetti. Mr. Rees' name is mispelled.
I have written before about receiving an email from the same username in the Ramey warrant. I chose to let Conflict Counsel know since that office was representing Bollman at that time. If Bollman attempts to contact me again; this time I will notify EPD and the DA.

Everything Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm said yesterday and observations I wrote in my second post yesterday about the two doctors evaluating sexually violent predator Richard Stobaugh was referenced this morning in the ruling by Judge Kaleb Cockrum.
Ms. Timm directed me to Humboldt DA Stacey Eads for comment. I asked Ms. Timm for a brief comment. She said, "The Court made the right decision." Ms. Eads responded that the DA is issuing a press release. The DA's office sent that out at 11:26 a.m. and I have added it to the post.
Judge Cockrum cited case law which included People vs Rasmussen while reading his ruling about the Court's discretion regarding credibility and opinion. Judge Cockrum said the People had requested he reassess/reconsider his December 2023 ruling to release Stobaugh on conditional release. "The State has the burden of proof by preponderance." Later in his ruling, Judge Cockrum states, "The People have met the burden of proof."
"The Court finds Stobaugh is in possession of child porn. The images are child porn. The Court relies on Officer Magpayo's testimony but also the Court's review of the images."
Judge Cockrum said that Stobaugh's timeline did not match. Other contraband such as the DVDs "suggest barter operation going on." Judge Cockrum said the letter that Stobaugh claimed was written by another Coalinga patient Robert Abelman was fabricated. Stobaugh was inconsistent when talking to law enforcement.
Sentencing for Luigi Messina who was convicted of voluntary manslaughter, mayhem and assault was continued to this morning by Judge Steven Steward. I covered his trial. He has two other cases which are also on calendar. Messina is in court in a red jumpsuit and a spit mask; as usual.
Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor. Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Messina's attorney. The victim is not here but a victim impact statement was read by Ms. Schaffer. DA staff member Betty who was support for the victim when he testified. Victim Witness Advocate Caitlyn LaHaie is also in court but could be for another case.
His father and sister are here with a woman I have not seen before at any court hearing .
9 years total for voluntary manslaughter, mayhem and assault case in CR2302817. In CR 2303060 and CR2303061, terminal sentence imposed; probation denied; 364 days jail imposed but covered by custody credits. Court minutes added for all three cases.

This is a continuation of my earlier morning post on Richard Stobaugh. We are on a short break.
Stobaugh looks different on Zoom. He is dressed in a khaki shirt and seated at a table. At times, he took notes and at one point, nodded during a detective's testimony.
So far Sgt.Gerardo Paredes from Coalinga State Hospital and former Coalinga State Hospital Detective Sandy Herr have testified about laltered DVD players with serial numbers scratched off, a hard drive with folder titled "jail bait" and Stobaugh blaming his roomate for the child porn and snitching on him smuggling meth.
An evidentiary hearing was scheduled today on 7/8/25 on the allegation that sexually violent predator Richard Stobaugh was in possession of child pornography at the State Hospital.
I checked Humboldt Superior Court records around 3 p.m. yesterday and there were no continuance requests filed. I spoke with Public Defender Luke Brownfield around the sane time and he said, "we are ready." Last week on 7/3/25, I had spoken with Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm and she also indicated the hearing would proceed today.
Terroristic and criminals threat suspect Daryl Jones two cases are on calendar this morning for Dr. Loya's report. This hearing was scheduled on 6/25 and continued by defense.
Criminal proceedings were reinstated today. Preliminary hearing on 7/18/25.
Salvador Gomez was booked into the Humboldt County jail on a bench warrant. He has two criminal cases and failed to appear in court. Gomez also has a traffic case in which there is a bail forfeiture and sent to collections.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta today announced a $750,000 settlement with AwesomeCalls, a digital day trading chatroom, and its CEO Anthony Haworth, for giving investors advice without a license and misleading investors though false advertising and testimonials touting the amount of money they could make, in violation of California law. The settlement in the form of a stipulated judgment includes $750,000 in civil penalties and injunctive relief barring AwesomeCalls and Mr. Haworth from giving investment advice without an investment adviser license or publishing misleading advertisements highlighting the quality of AwesomeCalls’ investment advice.
Trinidad Cortez Gomez arrested yesterday by HCSO on a warrant for a 2025 case. He is charged with two felony counts of PC 288 (a) lewd and lascivious act with a minor. The warrant was issued on 7/1 after a declaration was issued by the DA. The alleged molestation took place at Gomez's house in Mckinleyville and in his car.
Gomez was arraigned this afternoon. Conflict Counsel appointed, bail is $95,000, OR bail on 7/9; preliminary hearing scheduled for 7/17.
