No other media reported on convicted murderer Jon Goldberg's resentencing, him losing his appeal, the denial of his petition for re-hearing and review by the Supreme Court

Convicted murderer Jon Goldberg lost his appeal. His petition for rehearing was denied. His petition for review was denied in the Supreme Court. No other media reported on any of this, including his re-sentencing which I was the only one to report on and have been adding updates to my January 13, 2026 post.

https://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2026/01/a-resentencing-hearing-is-scheduled-for.html?m=1

There are details in that post including his CDCR status, more details about the re-sentencing request and information for new readers who may not have read my extensive coverage on this 2016 case. Goldberg was sentenced for the 2nd degree murder of Tim Smith. His sentence was 15 years to life.

Former DA Maggie Fleming who works part time at the Humboldt County DA's office on cases such as Goldberg appeared on the case for the resentencing. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Goldberg's attorney.

Today, Humboldt Superior Court Presiding Judge Kelly Neel is supposed to issue her ruling.

There have been continuances in the past and if the ruling issues today, I will add the outcone and court minutes. Until now this re-sentencing has generated very little interest.

9:43 a.m update: As I expected and wrote before the hearing, it got continued to 4/21.
