Troy Friedman was convicted of false imprisonment. The plea which was taken by Humboldt Superior Court Judge Kaleb Cockrum was for felony charge of PC 236 for probation "but additional jail time is open to the court," according to Senior Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm. I reported this in my last post on March 23 when Judge Cockrum continued the sentencing last minute; then defense continued the sentencing again on 4/2 to yesterday.
This is a constant problem with Humboldt Superior Court cases these days but yesterday's continuance while frustrating, is understandable because it was the first Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge Marilyn Miles is hearing the case and she is thorough.
I have linked my previous coverage on this case that no one else covered with exclusive information on Friedman's ex, Humboldt court clerk Bonnie Jennings. When Friedman is sentenced, I will add that update to this post. Humboldt courts' constant continuances are not only time consuming, consistent waste of my time with 20 to 40 cases a day but people tune out.
If there is a press release from the DA which I doubt; I will add it to this post. Space with the amount of daily, original content I do is prime. If you don't check my blog or Facebook page daily which seems to be the two preferred platforms; you are not going to be able to keep up.
