Maybe the DA or Victim Witness should talk to Dylan Moon's mom about her Facebook posts including revealing unverified information about a juvenile suspect's case online

I have cropped the identity of the person who sent it to me.

This tip that I received this morning did not come from the Lincoln, Warren or Ruiz family. My source is confidential. Humboldt is a small county, the tribal community is smaller and this person did the right thing. You can check my coverage and see what I wrote about Preston Ruiz who is a juvenile. There are rules about covering juvenile cases. Ruiz' case is confidential.

Dylan Moon is dead. That is a fact. The suspects in his case are still going through the court process. For those who know and understand the law, including my readers, he is and will be referred to as an alleged victim. Until there is a conviction. In the many years I have covered courts, including Humboldt courts, there are families of alleged victims who think they are above rules and the law. They are coddled by the Humboldt DA's office and in this case because it involves the tribe, the DA and all other media will tip toe around Dylan Moon's mother. Respect and the law are not selective and apply to everyone. If you are going to blast your feelings on Facebook or online, then what you say is public. Others involved in this case can see it. The attorneys and the DA read my blog. And I will inform them all as a courtesy about this post.

The Moon family is large. Just like many families in Humboldt, they know that some Moin family members have been through the court system. I have written about some of those cases. The other families involved are also in pain. I have already written about how respectful the Lincoln and Warren families are in court, online and in person. Social media is not where innocence or guilt is determined. This is a Humboldt case where all the connections and context will not come out in court.

I don't want the DA or Victim Witness to contact me. Talk to Dylan Moon's mother. And explain to her the law, including the rights for press. I too will turn commenting off for my post since I don't have all day to babysit Humboldt especially the drama with this case. There were several hearings just for arraignment to be completed. I don't get paid as it is for the time I put into Humboldt courts.

In my March 20, 2026 post for murder suspects Tselin Lincoln and William Warren, I included the detailed first amendment complaint and the list of charges. Serious and ethical readers don't read and believe social media posts and unverified information online. Especially from a party involved in a case where three young men are facing serious charges and potential sentences.

Humboldt County Senior Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for this case. Ms. Andrea Sullivan was appointed to represent Lincoln. Ms. Rebecca Linkous is Warren's attorney.

I do not post previous posts for every case anymore. For this case, this is the last time I will include all previous coverage. Most of my readers know how to access previous coverage, they read why the changes were necessary. Subscribers and advertisers can and have always been able to request links, customized updates and other benefits.
