Steve Lee charged with 7 felonies, his bail hearing continued an extra day at court's discretion

I reported on Steve Lee's arrest.

He was on the must go list for yesterday. I checked e court yesterday afternoon right before the deadline of 2 p.m. for late arraignment and charges were not in e court even though it was electronically filed at 1:57 p.m. At 2:25 p.m. still not in e court. Attempts to check with the Humboldt County DA's front office staff all day were unsuccessful due to the phone system which was giving a different message or kept ringing with no answer.

Lee was arraigned yesterday. Lee is charged with 7 felonies. There are three Jane Does listed in the complaint.

Deputy DA Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for this case. The Public Defender's office was appointed by Judge Kelly Neel. Lee is on no bail status. OR bail was set for 4/27 at the court's discretion. Preliminary hearing is on 5/1.

There is additional information I researched but want to do more verification.

4/27/26: Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge John Feeney denied OR and supervised release. Lee's custody status is still no bail.

5/1/26: Preliminary hearing continued to 6/9 by defense.

6/9/26: Preliinary hearing continued by defense to 6/18 because CAST interview needs to be provided and Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is ill.

6/17/26: On 6/16 defense motion to continue preliminary hearing granted; rescheduled to 7/22.

7/22/26: Preliminary hearing continued to 9/14 by DA.

9/14/26: Preliminary hearing continued by DA to 10/5 because civilian witnesses not served.

10/5/26: Lee's preliminary hearing started today and continues tomorrow. DA Investigator for this case is Tim Marsolan. Jane Doe 1 , Jane Doe 2 and Jane Doe 3 testify.

10/6/26: Jane Doe 3 finishes testifying. Jane Doe 1 recalled. Closing arguments still going on at 3:40 p.m. Not held to answer Count 1 & 4 by Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge Christopher Wilson; held to answer on other 5 felonies.
