Weeds, overgrown grass, foxtails are the culprit in lawsuit filed against the City of Eureka by Ranjit Marcu

Ranjit Marcu  is a real Estate Broker and has legal document service that several lawyers had never heard off. The last time I walked by the 5th street location where this legal services office was, it seems Marcu has moved and I confirmed it with others who have dealt with her.

The google reviews for Marcu and Associates are dismal and reminded me of my interaction with Marcu years ago. Or you can just see the way Marcu filled the small claims form. I have seen Joe Schmo with no legal background do better. Writing by hand would make it easier to read or typing on a separate attachment.

Marcu filed a small claims lawsuit against the City of Eureka on 2/18/26 asking for $1,208.18. I did not see a proof of service yet. A hearing is scheduled on 4/24/26.

Marcu alleges that Marcu's dog "inhaled a foxtail through her nose while at the City of Eureka's Del Norte Dog Park." Overgrown weeds, grass and foxtails caused her dog's injuries requiring emergency surgery.

Most likely, Humboldt Superior Court Commissioner Sarah Kaber will hear arguments in this case. Could be another judge.

There is a declaration and claim form against the City of Eureka. Photos of vegetation with no time stamp or where it is; I have only added one. I am not including receipts with financial information or photos of the exhibit with a sign of the Del Norte Dog Park and a phone number to call with improvement ideas and photo of a no smoking sign. I am not sure what these signs has to do with her dog being injured. The photo of a sign about no unleashed dogs and dog park rules including one saying owners are legally responsible for the behavior of their dogs at all times does not help her. Text messages where she has the phone number of City of Eureka's Jeff Raimey saved and she asks who she is speaking with?
