Justice Department sues Missouri Housing Authority for sexual harassment of public housing applicant

Another lawsuit filed by the DOJ Civil Rights Division under the leadership of Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon.

I have included five pages of the lawsuit.

This is just one excerpt.

"Ms. Forister explained to Defendant Hankins that she wanted to discuss the determination letter because she and her children needed a home. Defendant Hankins asked Ms. Forister to come behind his desk to pray with him about her application and put out his hands for her to hold while they prayed. As they began to pray, Defendant Hankins leaned his head into Ms. Forister’s breasts. He then pulled Ms. Forister down onto his lap, touched her breast with his hand, and tried to kiss her."

El Paso man sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for sexually abusing minors in Mexico

The U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Texas issued a press release today with details.

It took Judge Timothy Canning issuing a court order and only another month and two weeks for State Hospital to finally transport convicted murderer Antone Aubrey to the Humboldt jail for his hearing for outpatient treatment

I did a post in August about issues with transporting convicted murderer Antone Aubrey from the State Hospitals to the Humboldt jail for his outpatient hearing which, as of the last update, was scheduled from October 13 to October 15.

https://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2025/08/due-to-transportation-issues-antone.html?m=1#more

Looks like the State Hospital finally complied with Humboldt Superior Court Judge Timothy Canning's transport order issued on 8/15/25.

In July 2020, Humboldt Superior Court Judge Christopher Wilson found Antone Aubrey guilty of second degree murder and not guilty by reason of insanity.

I was correct about the transit company Amos Nuckols worked for; he picked up Jane Doe up at Bonomini's market; probable cause describes alleged sexual assault

I did my own research on sexual battery suspect Amos Nuckols and I was correct about the transit company he worked for; whether he is still employed with North Bay Medical transit, I have not been able to confirm. See their response in my previous coverage.

I had requested the file. Today, I got to see the probation report and the criteria Humboldt Probation Department uses to provide feedback to local judges. I also viewed and have a copy of the probable cause declaration signed 9/24/25 by Humboldt Superior Court Judge Lawrence Killoran.

Yesterday, there was an OR bail hearing. Thank you Retired Judge John Feeney for denying Nuckols supervised release and taking all factors in consideration. Nuckols has been served with a protective order in court.

Probation report confirms Nuckols is employed at North Bay Medical.

**This reporting includes graphic details about an alleged sexual assault from law enforcement and court records. It is your choice to read beyond this point**

So who is going to end up paying for all these attorneys and legal expenses if Anna Nusslock loses her lawsuit against Providence and St. Joseph's?

Yesterday in Anna Nusslock vs St. Joseph Health of Northern California and Providence St. Joseph Health a protective order, another pro hac vice application from another attorney, Benjamin T. Halbig to represent Nusslock. There are already  previous pro hac vice applications granted for K.M. Bell and Kathryn Abendroth filed on June 13, 2025 to represent Nusslock. On June 9, pro.hac vice applications for Emily Gabos, Noel Leon and Emily Mannheimer. This is in addition to An-Hong Tran the only attorney listed in e court under parties for Nusslock.

There is a hearing on 10/6/25 on the pro hac vice application for Kenna Titus and a case management conference on 10/27/24.

There is no protective entered in e court as of this morning. Just the application fee for pro hac vice application is $500 plus $12.50 service fee from the State Bar totaling $512.50.

On September 2, in this lawsuit, Humboldt Superior Court Judge Timothy Canning sustained St. Joe's demurrer with 30 days leave to amend.

This lawsuit is not the one filed by the State of California because her lead attorney in this lawsuit is a private law firm.

I already reported in August on that lawsuit.

Yesterday, Analia Martinez had a diversion hearing scheduled in three of her cases. Future dates of 1/12/26 and 3/23/26 were scheduled in those cases.

I have covered Martinez extensively and do not have time to link all the posts. This is the last post I did and it has links to all prior coverage.

https://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2025/07/in-her-criminal-cases-martinez-on-paper.html?m=1

The jail log lists she was booked into the jail by HCSO Sgt. Eric Losey yesterday afternoon for PC 273.6(a) violating a restraining order. She posted bond. This is a new arrest but not the first time she has been arrested for that charge.

Starting October 25, Humboldt County jail will administer Sublocade injections to eligible inmates

Over the past several years, Humboldt County has endured devastating impacts from the opioid crisis, first with heroin and now fentanyl. Our rural community continues to experience overdose and death rates among the highest in California.

Next Tyler Robinson hearing at October 30 at 10 a.m., voluminous discovery, co counsel added to defense, preliminary hearing will not be waived, Robinson's custody status to be addressed later & at next hearing Robinson will appear in person

This morning was murder suspect Tyler Robinson's second court appearance for a waiver hearing. Utah Fourth District Court Judge Tony Graf.

Utah County Attorney's office Charlie Kirk trial team includes Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray; Mr. Chad Grunander who appeared and spoke in court on behalf of the office for the first hearing; Mr. Christopher Ballard who is General Counsel, Chief of Staff and Public Information Officer for the Utah County Attorney’s Office who was also present for the first court hearing and mentioned in court; Mr. Ryan McBride; Mr. David Sturgill and Ms. Lauren Hunt who was also present for the first court hearing and mentioned in court.

As I reported on September 27, defense made a request which was granted. Tyler Robinson will not be in court, in person for today’s hearing He will appear remotely from jail again, this time without video. As I reported on September 24, the Utah County Commission  has appointed Ms. Kathryn Nester to represent Robinson.

Robinson is charged with 7 counts including aggravated murder. The Utah County Attorney's Office is seeking the death penalty.

Summary: Next Tyler Robinson hearing at October 30 at 10 a.m., voluminous discovery, co counsel added to defense, preliminary hearing will not be waived, Robinson's custody status to be addressed later & at next hearing Robinson will appear in person.

I got this information out within seconds of the hearing on other platforms, couple of minutes on FB.

Details:

Judge Tony Graf opened the meeting with asking the jail, "Do we have Mr. Robinson present?"

He then mentioned two names, Michael Burt and Richard Novak, who are California attorneys and appointing them "pro hac vice" as co-counsel with Ms. Nester.

A lawyer not licensed in Utah can join a defense team by obtaining special permission from the Utah courts, with filings such as a "pro hac vice" application. A lawyer not licensed in can also work under the direct supervision of a licensed Utah attorney. Ms. Nester is licensed in Utah. Both Mr. Burt and Mr. Novak have significant experience in capital cases and have appeared in court in several states.

The courtroom view showed Judge Graf and the counsel in a split screen. Mr. Grunander  speaking for the prosecution team. Ms. Nester spoke for the defense.

Mr. Grunander told Judge Graf that per Rule 16, discovery has to be provided within five days. I covered this in detail in the post on the last hearing. "We will look for defense counsel's request. We met with defense team this morning about discovery. There is voluminous discovery; substantial discovery."

Mr. Grunander said discovery used for charging information was available to be provided to defense.

Mr. Grunander brought up the protection/pre trial order issued by Judge Graf and asked for clarity for the phrase, "all witnesses" on page 2. The order probits discussion about the case by certain parties.

"There are a number of witnesses likely to be identified," said Mr. Grunander. "This happened in front of 200 -300 witnesses. "

Mr. Grunander said there were no arguments being presented today. There would be follow up "once we see discovery. There are massive amounts of digital discovery."

Ms. Nester addressed Robinson's detention status and defense request. "We are not asking the Court to address the issue at this time. We are not in a position to argue. We are asking the Court to delay the decision until preliminary hearing."

Judge Graf scheduled the next court hearing for October 10 at 10. a.m. After checking with attorneys and receiving no objection from the defense, Judge Graf said Robinson will be present in person at the next court hearing

Judge Graf then made some remarks which most people familiar with courts know. Judge Graf said that Robinson had a right to be present at every stage of the proceedings, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Victims are entitled to be free of harassment and being targeted. Everyone in his courtroom would be treated with respect. "This proceeding is open to the public in accordance with the law." Judge Graf talked about transparency.

Since this is such a high profile national case with international interest, him addressing the public informing that this was an exception and usually during court proceedings, as a judge, he would only speak when addressed directly.

Judge Graf's judicial, professional, calm, respectful demeanor is appreciated and the way he has made sure rules and conducts are known to media and public in advance has been very helpful.

This is a great example to show the rest of the world the US justice system. While it is not perfect, it is the best & sometimes those of us living in the US take it for granted.

Amidst all the tragedy, this Church and this police department shine light on the good in America America

Amidst all the tragedy, I want to thank The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the healing words & the Grand Blanc Township Police Department  for mentioning how the community came together to provide food & comfort to the victims, their families. This is America. Faith, fellowship and community.

Humboldt's Cyndy Day-Wilson out; Sacramento's Mark Reichel substitutes in as Uonan's attorney in civil lawsuit filed against him by Michelle Hill

Human trafficking suspect Uonan Uonan aka "Chicago John" already has a criminal case. I first reported post in November 2024 that settlement discussions were ongoing with the DA's office in his criminal case.

Uonan also has a civil lawsuit filed against him by Michelle Hill. The  complaint was for "breach of contract, open book and account stated." Mr. Marco Rodriguez is Hill's attorney.

There really has been nothing to warrant a new post in either case and expect more delays in the civil case. Humboldt's Ms. Cyndy Day-Wilson out; on 9/19/25 Sacramento attorney Mr. Mark Reichel substituted in to represent Uonan in the civil case.

There was a case management conference and motion to compel scheduled for 9/19/25. The CMC was continued to 1/23/26. The motion to compel is trailing.

Mercer Fraser's Sacramento attorney tried to lecture Humboldt Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning about local rules and accuse Ms. Allison Jackson of being "disingenuous and histrionic." It didn’t work. Mercer Fraser lost. Mercer Fraser request for TRO denied

On August 7, I did this post.

https://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2025/08/mercer-fraser-is-big-company-they-know.html?m=1#more

The lawsuit is Goat Rock Ranch, LLC vs Chalk Mountain Ranch LLC.  Mercer Fraser is listed as a party in Humboldt Superior Court. Brandon Barnwell was not listed on the Humboldt Superior court calendar for the last hearing but is a key party in this litigation.

Barnwell is represented by Harland Law Firm partner, Ms. Allison Jackson. Goat Rock Ranch LLC and Mercer Fraser are represented by Mr. Mark Harrison and Mr. Adam Guernsey  from the Sacramento law firm Harrison, Temblador, Hungerford and Guernsey, LLP.

The last post is very detailed with court documents and the recent filings cover much of the same information.

There was an ex parte hearing on 9/23 after I did the last post filed by Mercer Fraser for a TRO & OSC. I checked the court minutes which list the outcomes.

Mr. Adam Guernsey was present for Mercer Fraser. Ms. Allison Jackson with Barnwell.

Court minutes list the basics as they should. What makes this small county court coverage interesting to most readers, including lawyers is my observations and reporting about the dynamics, the parties and people's own experiences about the local court system.

Three years after I started covering Humboldt courts, a friend designed this for a rate card and these were her words. She is a businesswoman, used to be very active in politics and familiar with local courts. 12 years later, I am sharing it with my summary of the 9/23 ex parte hearing.

I do not use Words Worth anymore. It is just John Chiv.

Mercer Fraser's Sacramento attorney tried to lecture Humboldt Presiding Judge Timothy Canning about  local rules and accuse Ms. Allison Jackson of being "disingenuous and histrionic."  It didn’t work. Mercer Fraser lost. Mercer Fraser request for TRO denied.

The 10/13 date vacated and hearing on preliminary injunction continued by court to 10/20. A CMC is scheduled for 2/9/26.

10/20/25: The court continued the matter until October 31 because the clerks office did not have Mercer Fraser’s reply brief in the file.

Former Marine charged with three counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder in North Carolina shooting

(Brunswick County Sheriff's Office)

Former marine Nigel Edge, changed his name in 2023. Sean DeBevoise was his previous name.

He was arrested for yesterday's shooting at the American Fish Company restaurant in Southport, North Carolina. Edge is charged with three counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

While some media mention conspiracy theories and lawsuits, The New York Post included this information.

"Law-enforcement sources described Edge as also harboring numerous Q-Anon conspiracy theories. His litigation against Pickler was just the latest in a series of wacky lawsuits he filed in the last year, which included numerous allegations that a cabal of “LGBTQ White Supremacists” and pedophiles were trying to murder him because he’s a “straight man.”He accused Southport’s Generations Church of being in on the plot, along with the Brunswick Medical center of trying to kill him – with both lawsuits being dismissed.

Several X accounts also had pages from lawsuits and posts from Edge's Facebook accounts.

Two people, including the alleged shooter, nine wounded; this at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Michigan

Two people, including the alleged shooter. Nine wounded.

This just happened around 10:25 a.m. in Grand Blanc, Michigan. These are just some basic details from local and national media. I will update and edit if needed as official sources release more information.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was full with hundreds of people attending services. About 10:25 a.m, a gunman rammed a vehicle into the church and opened fire with an assault rifle, "firing several rounds at individuals within the church,"  Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye said during a press conference.

"How's it going man?"

**I posted this three hours ago, just on Facebook. A helpful commenter said EPD spoke with him at 9:45. There is an EPD field interview conducted at 9:44 a.m. near the Courthouse at that location**

"How's it going man?"

This is who I just photographed writing in front of the jail. The messages are all over from 5th street and H to 5th and J in front of the Courthouse and some on the corner of 5th and I. While the guy may look like  Stephen Paiment and the messages maybe similar, hard to tell if it is him. 5th street traffic near the Courthouse isn't an ideal place to stop and pause.

Even if it is Paiment, I wrote about his conditions of his supervised release and it is up to Probation to keep an eye on him and Eureka Police Department to determine identity and if a crime has been committed.

The person from Humboldt making comments online hours ago, did you call EPD instead of posting on Facebook? If you did and if EPD checked this out, this guy is still there and it is not a news story unless there is an arrest. I took the photos because keyboard warriors in Humboldt who think they know what news is, who think they can post without consequences and think media should do their errands for unverified claims should get the attention they obviously seek and be held to the same standards media is and has to follow. Don't go accusing someone on the street, FB commenter, if you can't be bothered to verify the claims and call law enforcement first.

Two women from Southern California, one from Colorado followed an ICE agent home in LA to his home, livestreamed on Instagram, told viewers to "come on down"; they face 10 years in federal prison if convicted

Ashleigh Brown, 38, of Aurora, Colorado and
Sandra Carmona Samane, 25, of Panaroma City were both arrested. Brown is in federal custody without bond. Samane posted bond.

According to the press release, it is 5 years for each count so it would be 10 years in prison, if convicted. I asked that question to U.S. Attorney Essayli in a comment on his tweet.

"I am not that Chris fella"

(Do not use the photo I took without permission first and give credit. This is for his safety and the correct way to use someone else's original reporting. )

"I am not that Chris fella." This morning few minutes before 10 a.m. Yesterday, another security guard who also works for one of the local security companies was interviewed by another local media outlet.

I was walking past the KAEF studio and stopped by to talk to the security guard outside the door. Very professional. His name is T. Hanke. He told me he is there to make sure everyone is safe. Someone named "AJ" stopped by before I did and introduced themselves to Hanke claiming to be head of security for the group planning to protest. A few others came by and snapped pictures of him.

Even before Eureka Police Department issued the press release this morning, yesterday, I had a feeling the person in Hawthorne was a known criminal. And it was, someone I have covered for a decade

(2021 booking photo, he looks the same in 2025)

Even before Eureka Police Department issued the press release this morning, yesterday, I had a feeling the person in Hawthorne was a known criminal. And it was, I have covered two Silverio Parro Snider Sanchez, same name, different men, different dob, both cousins since 2015 in Humboldt Superior Court. I  another live news report to write about first. There are too many previous posts on the Sanchez cousins to link. You can access them via the search feature on my blog or google.

Sanchez was booked into the Humboldt County by HCSO on a Ramey warrant for PC 3455(a) violation of post release community supervision, PC 236 false imprisonment, PC 148(a) resisting arrest, PC 422 Criminal threats and PC459/461(a) burglary.

U.S. Customs seized $16, 760 in undeclared currency from traveler arriving from Canada

When your last name is Madrone, you can get arrested for sodomy with a minor, get rearrested while you are out on supervised release and resolve your case for an "informal agreement"

After defense dragged out Sergio Madrone's case for months, on 9/24, instead of a preliminary hearing date being set, the case resolved.

Pre trial and status of AOD assessment is scheduled for 11/14/25. Disposition reset with a 1 year informal agreement is scheduled for 9/24/26.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer appeared on the case for the People. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Madrone's attorney. Judge Lawrence Killoran ordered a 25 yard stay away from schools, parks and playgrounds where children are present but not from colleges. Madrone is not to be with minors or communicate with minors.

In February, he was not eligible for RCRC; now he is?
