Why is PG & E hiring a third party with no business license?

Why didn't PG & E inform the public of this and is the City of Eureka Code Enforcement and Finance Department going to take action and fine these violators?, These guys have been going around the city before today. They are rude, pushy and don't have accurate records of PG & E accounts. Thank you EPD. There have been issues with identification and notice with the third party contractors that were doing other utility work two years ago and now.

From Eureka Police Department:

"💡❗️We’ve received reports of energy salesmen going door to door in Eureka today asking to look at PG&E bills.  Bolt Energy confirms that they do have a third party sales crew in the Eureka area today- though they are operating without a required City of Eureka business license.  They have been warned and advised.  The sales representatives are required to wear Bolt identifiable clothing and have a photo identification card."

"While these sales reps appear to be affiliated with a legitimate company, we encourage the public to be cautious and alert when anyone unexpected comes to your door.  Never let a stranger into your home no matter how pushy.  Also, make sure to research a company before signing up for any service.  If you have reason to believe something suspicious is going on, get a detailed description and call police at (707) 441-4044. "

"Bolt Energy has entered into a Core Gas Aggregation Service Agreement with PG&E, has completed the CTA certification process, and is eligible to enroll customers. PG&E does not recommend or endorse individual CTAs.

  1. PG&E is required to enter into Core Gas agreements with any company that meets California PUC requirements. PG&E does not have an option not to enter agreements or to supervise or regulate the business practices of any core gas company. That is within the sole jurisdiction of the PUC. The role of the core gas companies and the PUC has been determined by action of the Legislature. So, any supervisory/enforcement action needs to be directed to the PUC or City of Eureka (for business licensing).
