Newsom's buddy arrested on domestic violence and child cruelty charges

Politico and Sacramento Bee reported that Nathan Ballard who is a  former San Francisco deputy city attorney, California Democratic strategist and a longtime friend and adviser to Gavin Newsom was arrested and jailed on two felony domestic violence charges in Napa. 

Allegations include Ballard attempting to suffocata four-year-old child with a pillow. Ballard was booked on Oct. 18 on two felony charges of willful cruelty to a child with possible injury and death, and domestic violence, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Ballard will be formally charged today, according to Napa County Assistant District Attorney Paul Gero.
