Jewish cemetry in Grand Rapids vandalized with pro Trump graffiti

 


A Jewish cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan was  vandalized with pro-Trump graffiti today . Trump's is campaigning in Grand Rapids tonight. So far, no comment from Trump.

Media articles have described the person who discovered the vandalism as a community resident or caretaker. One report said it was the chairperson of the Ahavas Israel cemetery. The cemetery is managed by Congregation Ahavas Israel and the graffitti was discovered at 8 a.m. It is unclear if the vandalism occurred early morning today or over the weekend. 

TRUMP” and “MAGA” was spelled out on multiple tombstones but did not include any antisemitic language or symbols.  


The Michigan Jewish Democrats tweeted: "Time and again, the President of the United States has sided with antisemites, white supremacists, racists, and bigots of all kinds. Now, our country is paying the price. Tomorrow, we will end it."

"The Michigan Democratic Jewish Caucus is appalled by the pro-Trump desecration of Ahavas Israel cemetery in Grand Rapids, on the day Donald Trump is slated to close his 2020 campaign with a rally in the city."

"This heinous act was meant to intimidate the president’s opponents - and Jewish voters. But Jews in Grand Rapids, across Michigan and the country will head to the polls tomorrow to vote against this Donald Trump and the hatred, violence, and antisemitism he so callously incites. "
