According to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles bears a disproportionate share of the coronaviris outbreak in California. The same article and others state that the Latino and Black community are impacted more.
Postive cases statistics do not include the age of the people affected or how many cases are from at risk populations.
In typical government speak, the LA County Public Health Director says while the mortality rate is stable, the increase in hospitalizations will probably result in increased deaths.
If Newsom cared about the people of California, he would not have released COVID 19 inmates into the community. If Newsom cared about people struggling from pay check to paycheck and the economic impact on working people, immigrants, communities of color and small businesses, he should have passed meaningful action on rent and mortgages; not a moratorium that has loopholes and delays the inevitable. If Newsom cared about small businesses, communities of color and immigrants, he would not punish restaurants, barbers,, hair salons for the irresponsible actions of entitled Californians partying and co mingling because they have money to burn and can obviously weather the economic impact of the pandemic.
If Newsom cared about people's health, he would order clinics, doctors and optometrists to stary seeing patients, especially here in Humboldt.
If COVID 19 restrictions are going to be reimposed, if the stay at home orders are to continue for months, California, other states need to come up with a targeted strategy.
California and governors of other states need to stop fighting with the White House and all of them start showing some leadership instead of petty partisan fighting. Until they do; none of them should get paid.
There are other health concerns besides COVID 19. This back and forth on restrictions and ridiculous extended stay at home on everyone for months has mental health and social effects. From the beginning, the states and the Feds reacted in a disorganized manner.
At least, some Latino organizations are speaking up for protections for the workers in their community. What about the rest? Is Black Lives Matter speaking up against the Democrats? Are unions protecting their workers? No. When you are in top level government funded management, a government official or bureaucrat, you collect your outrageous salary and turn your back on the people you claim whose livelihood depends on you.
This isn't to say Republicans are different when it comes to wealth or corruption. But who is in charge in California? Who are the ones claiming to be for the people? Democrats in California are anti business, anti private sector, anti public safety and hypocrites.
Maybe Nancy Pelosi and Gavin Newsom can pack their fridge with expensive ice cream and party with Silicon Valley CEOS and Hollywood millionaires while they drive the rest of California further into economic destruction.
Since certain local media with multiple staff have received PPP money and grants and since certain local media have corporate funding or access to local money from Humboldt Area Foundation, where are articles from woke Thad Greenson, Hank Sims, Ryan Burns and others such as one what Sun Valley is doing to protect their workers? I am not talking about the usual PR article. Does the liberal local woke media have the guts to do reporting and take on the local established and money?
