Travis Dillan Watson was arrested early yesterday morning for PC 187 (a) murder. Watson was booked and is on no bail unless that changes at arraignment.
Yesterday early morning, HCSO was in Hoopa and it was for a homicide.

I have contacted HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor to confirm if this is the Hoopa homicide suspect. The time matches and it is the only arrest by HCSO for homicide yesterday.

In 2016, HCSO arrested Watson for child endangerment, felony vandalism, trespassing, probation violation and an outstanding warrant for assault with a firearm. I have included that press release.

Watson has 25 search results in Humboldt Superior Court. I am not going to list his record and details but the judge at arraignment needs to consider his rap sheet and failures to appear.

HCSO press release (issued May 4, 2026):
On May 2, 2026, at approximately 5:01 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a report of a stabbing in the 2700 block of Pine Creek Road in Hoopa.
While deputies were en route, dispatch advised that the reporting party stated he had been physically attacked by his uncle, and in response a stabbing occurred. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the reporting party, identified as 31-year-old Travis Watson, outside the residence.
Additional responding deputies located a male victim inside the residence and immediately began life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel arrived. Despite these efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.
Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes investigators responded and assumed the investigation. Based on the investigation, including statements and physical evidence collected at the scene, Watson was arrested for PC 187(a) – Murder and was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility.
The decedent has been identified by the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office as 34-year-old James Luther Vernon Williams, and his next of kin have been notified.

On Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at approximately 7:52 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible kidnapping that had just occurred at a residence on the 400 block of Pine Creek Road in Hoopa. It was reported 21 year old Travis Dillan Watson gained access to a family member’s residence by breaking out a window, entering the residence and removing his daughter. Watson then fled the scene in his vehicle while holding his daughter on his lap. While fleeing the scene, Watson rammed a vehicle at the family member’s residence causing significant damage to the other vehicle. Watson then continued to flee the scene in his vehicle with his unrestrained 19 month old daughter.
Deputies quickly located the suspected vehicle at the 3000 block of Hwy 96. Watson was arrested without incident and taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for child endangerment, felony vandalism, trespassing, probation violation and an outstanding warrant for assault with a firearm. His bail was set at $50,000. Watson’s daughter was uninjured and released to family members.
