20 year old Josalyn Spagel was arrested yesterday by Arcata Police Department for PC 261.5 (b) and PC 261.5(c). Both are statutory rape charges but each of these penal codes have an age difference between alleged perpetrator and minor victim. Until the Humboldt County District Attorney makes a decision and until the DA files charges; whether the officer did so because there are two alleged victims or wasn't sure which penal code met the criteria is unknown at this time. Bail is $25,000.
Spagel has a traffic case which was from a CHP arrest and was filed 3/20/26 for VC22350 speeding. There is a hearing on 5/11/26. That case has a Weaverville address. There are two Facebook profiles one listing Trinity county and one Weaverville.
