James Leach who broke into Jeff Holland and Allison Arkley Holland's home, requested his diversion be terminated, then failed to show up for the trial he requested and was arrested again on a warrant yesterday by EPD

(With the 9th circuit ruling, EPD has same policy as HCSO regarding booking photos, Leach's appearance has changed and he is a danger to many in this community, I put in a PRA request with EPD)

James Albert Leach Jr was arrested by Eureka Police Department yesterday. This is for a bench warrant in one of his 2023 cases. Leach requested a trial and then failed to appear. That case is CR2300152. He was granted mental health diversion in that case and this was the case in which he broke into Jeff Holland and Allison Arkley Holland's home.

The assault with a deadly weapon PC 245 (a)(1) and the first degree burglary charges PC459 are from the 2023 case. The resisting arrest PC 69 is a new charge.

At a diversion hearing on 8/16/24, at Leach's request diversion was terminated. Leach requested a trial. A bench warrant was issued yesterday for $175,000 by Judge Christopher Wilson because Leach failed to appear.

There is a gun violence restraining order against him which was requested by EPD.

CR2300153 was dismissed. In that case, Leach broke into local attorney Allison Jackson and her husband Peter Ranken's house with a firearm in each hand.

Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm is the prosecutor for this case. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo is Leach's attorney.

These are court minutes that will give you an idea of the case before Leach was rearrested.

10/9: Leach was arraigned Public Defender's office is representing him. OR/bail on 10/11; preliminary hearing on 10/18.

10/11: Supervised release denied by Retired Judge Christopher Wilson.
