Cyndy Day-Wilson's second request to seal documents in a civil case, this time for the Nylanders, will it be as "revealing" as the Bruce Smith lawsuit?

The Redwood Meat Humboldt drama will continue as most civil cases do. In civil cases that I have covered over 10 years in Humboldt Superior Court, it is rare to see a request to seal documents.

The last time Ms. Cyndy Day-Wilson made this request was for Bruce Smith and the records involved pornographic material. The original request to seal was granted by Judge Timothy Canning. It was revealed later in a ruling.

Now, another request made by Ms. Day-Wilson has been granted by Judge Canning after an ex parte hearing. Ms. Day-Wilson represents Rachel, Russel and Stephanie Nylander in a lawsuit involving the business and other Nylander family members.

In the 9/18/24 court minutes, the interested party Mr. Stuart Smits was present for is supposed to be Ray Christie. Ms. Heather Burke of Harland Law Firm who represents Ryan and John Nylander. Mr. Dustin Owens represents Redwood Meat Co., Inc.

Since my last post, I have included documents available which include September 18 court minutes and filings by Ms. Day-Wilson. A hearing on the preliminary injunction was scheduled for September 18. Case management conferences are scheduled for 11/15 and 1/27/25.
