For now, Joshua Cooley may end up in Sacramento

Sacramento Deputy District Attorney Brian Morgan objected to the placement of sexually violent predator Joshua Cooley.

"This would be the second SVP Liberty Healthcare has attempted to place in a twelve month period " said Mr.Morgan. The other SVP was from Santa Clara County and "shortly after the placement, Liberty Healthcare decided the placement is inappropriate."

Another sexually violent predator from Sacramento is due to be released and the Sacramento property is a potential placement for that SVP.

For now, Judge Feeney allowed Liberty Healthcare to proceed with Sacramento placement but there is an evidentiary hearing and public comment from Sacramento County on January 29.

Judge Feeney denied Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell's request objecting to public comment. She wanted people from Sacramento County to submit letters and feedback via the DA and agencies. She is filing a motion after Judge John Feeney denied her request.

Mr. Morgan pointed out that the public in Humboldy and Tehama was allowed input. "We are asking the People of Sacramento County be afforded the same opportunity given to Humboldt and Tehama."

Notification to the community will be made tin Humboldt and Sacramento.
