Only 4th street entrance open, temporary suspension of livescan and CCW permitting services

Some of the changes implemented by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office in response to COVID-19:

- The Humboldt County Courthouse has been limited to one entrance (4th Street Side). If you are coming to do business with the Sheriff’s Office, please use the 4th Street entrance.

- Our main station lobby remains open during normal business hours (M-F, 8a-5p). We will be temporarily suspending Livescan and CCW Permitting services until further notice. If you can handle your business with our office over the phone, we encourage you to do so. Our Records staff are available to take your calls at 707-445-7251.

- We are encouraging the public to utilize our online reporting tool to help cut down on exposure. Read more about that tool and make a report here: https://humboldtgov.org/1380/Online-Reporting

- If you call our dispatch center to report a non-emergency crime, you may be asked to give a statement over the phone rather than being contacted in person. This is to reduce exposure of our deputies and the public to COVID-19. We will work with you to determine what level of contact is needed to help address the crime.

- In the coming days and weeks, our deputies may be wearing personal protective gear like masks and eyewear. This is being done as a precaution to protect our deputies and the community members they come in contact with.

- Prior to being booked into the Humboldt County Jail, arrestees are being screened for COVID-19 symptoms or evidence of exposure. Offenders who display symptoms or who are determined to have been exposed to COVID-19 will be transported for appropriate medical attention.

- After booking arrestees into the Humboldt County Jail, our deputies have been advised to use our electrostatic sprayer to disinfect all surfaces of their patrol cars.

- We are regularly cleaning our facilities and public lobbies to minimize the risk of exposure to the public and our employees.

In our jail:
- Our volunteer programs are being temporarily suspended to limit exposure of the inmate population to community members.

- Visitation is still allowed but must be non-contact.
