(Sgt. LaFrance)

(Officer Endsley)

Officers are busy investigating a call of armed robbery with pistol.

Sgt. Leonard LaFrance was leaving the scene when I got there. Officers Jon Omey and Andrew Endsley were still investigating. EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell will be releasing more information later today.

EPD Press Release:

On March 31, 2020, at about 1:00 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of 5th Street for a panic alarm at a check cashing business.

While officers were responding, additional information was received that the business had

been robbed and the suspect was no longer on scene.  Based on the initial investigation, it appears that a male entered the store, brandished a firearm, and presented a note demanding money.  The male fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect was described as a male in his 20’s, thin build, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, white bandana over his face, and had a black firearm.  The male was last seen heading south on L Street on foot.

This is an active investigation and additional information will be released as available.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Corrie Watson at cwatson@ci.eureka.ca.gov or (707) 441-4032.
