Dr. Frankovich says no risk to local community, in one town more than the other


At the special meeting today, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors, County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich is giving an update now.

Dr. Frankovich gave an update on results already provided by HumCo COVID joint force. 154 local tests, additional testing being done. 152 "through our lab", 10 confirmed cases, 129 negative, 6 pending results.

Regarding release on positive patients, Dr. Frankovich said there is no risk to the local community, in one town more than the other. First responders are informed in case they have contact. No reason for general public to know and Dr. Frankovich explained the reasons; confidentiality is one.

"Shelter in place can have a profound impact in how quickly this infection spreads in the community," said Dr. Frankovich.She stressed social distancing and lack of travel.

In response to constituent concerns, Sheriff William Honsal said that this pandemic and emergency has caused a reprioritization of services.

Second District Supervisor Fennell added " we are running the County and responding to this emergency."

"This is scary for a lot of people," said Sheriff Honsal. He said this is the time for government to be calm and for leaders to step up and show "we can do this and we can handle it."
