14 local COVID cases, two more confirmed today

Two additional cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today, bringing the total to 14 local cases since the outbreak began. Cases 11 through 14 are currently under investigation, with additional information expected next week.

Case number five, confirmed on March 24, has been found to be a contact of another case and is therefore not an example of community spread.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich said ongoing investigations are extensive and time consuming, involving numerous individuals. “These results have implications,” she said, “and we want to get them right.”

  1. As a society, we have made the rational decision to balance 20,000 to 60,000 deaths EVERY YEAR from influenza against keeping the country running and not shutting down the economy. 7000 people die in the U.S. EVERY DAY from something other than Wuhan Flu, yet we don't stamp out life and freedom as we know it. 4000 babies are killed EVERY DAY in abortion mills to "protect a woman's 'right' to choose". Death is an unavoidable consequence of life. Depression and Misery from voluntary economic suicide is avoidable. If we all 'stay home', who will keep going to work to grow our food, make our energy, provide our clothing, cell phones, internet connections? Why should they if the rest of us expect to stay home getting 'free' checks with which to purchase these goods and services that others will eventually have to be forced to produce? It is an unsustainable model. The low-risk portion of the population (vast majority) need to get off the sofa and get back to work. We can shelter/isolate/protect and care for the most vulnerable in our society only if there is a working society to support them. From An Anonymous source.

    1. 4 K babies killed everyday? Mind blowing. And we allow this? Weird.

Good argument to get back to work.
